The only reliable thermostat you'll find that's cheaper than a Helix would be Ranco or Johnson Controls, both of which would work fine.

Really? Do you think anybody here will be able to rattle off everybody's price off the top of their head? Anybody would have to do the same thing you should do: go to each vendor's website and find the lowest price.

wiring the ranco/johnsons are very easy and only tak 5 min. if you are familliar with basic wiring. I have the herpstat and a helix. I personally will keep buying the herpstat because I like the tenths readings(Dont get me wrong I love the helix also) both are top notch. I use 2 ranco's on 2 racks also and run almost as good as the Herp. and helix. I was waiting on my herpstat to come in the mail and hooked up the ranco to my newly made incubator and it only fluctuated about 2 deg. the racks are the same about 2 deg. variance. and am very happy with there performance. I think they are all going to be within a couple dollars difference from where ever you get them from.

    Sorry so Long

I just got my Helix from Reptile Basics for $135. No matter where you get it from it's going to be about that price for a new one. I found some that were a few dollars less, but I've been really happy with Reptile Basics so I don't mind spending the few extra dollars to support them.
