what the hell is this????

ive had my BP for i think 3 months now.. and never have i seen it poop this much and look like this....

usually its 2 or 3 of the little white pieces to the left... today i wake up to check on her and i see this poop to the right!!

*thats a quarter so you can get an idea on size... my snake its only 2 1/2 feet by the way

The stuff on the left is not feces, that would be urates which is a solid form of his or her urine and is normal. The stuff on the right is actual feces. Hope this helps...

ooohh.. thanx a lot for the info.. so how often does it pass feces???

I was gonna say...is this a trick question? As stated above...the white stuff is urates and brown is poop. It is suprising how large their poop is though!

i can feel the difference in weight when i picked her up lol

Lots of new keepers think that urates are poop, because it's solid, then get confused when poop that actually looks like poop arrives! :8:

The first time my male pooped like that I thought my cat had gotten in there or some one was playing a trick on me!

They all poo and urate differently. I have seen some huge urates from a couple of them. Mine will pass urates quite often like 2 or 3 times a week and all but 1 of mine poo on a regular weekly schedule. And yes sometimes something comes out and wow....your like "how in the world did that come out of this little thing"....lol

But I just learned something new I thought urates was decomposed bone matter. ?? goes to show ya don't know everything.

My favorite is when sometimes the poo is furry!! :D

Yeah that is always a suprise to see how large the stuff is and it honestly looks like a dog pooped it out!

A warning in the title would have been nice that a big picture of crap was going to pop up...

I was in that boat. Wondered what the "popcorn" was and if I'd recognize actual poop. Lo 'n' behold, it was unmissable when it eventually came, LOL!

lol that nothing wait until you see yourfirst snake laying eggs now that will blow your mind. I hoping to have mine blown away again soon since i am pretty sure my female is gravid lol..

Add me to the list of people who were surprised when I actually saw how big the poop was. Sometimes they can go on poop strikes and poop only when they shed... needless to say this makes for one big BM.

I used to be surprised too, especially after a poop strike. But after thinking about it, they are the most perfectly shaped creature for a high body mass to poop size ratio.

Lol!!! Yep, I compare mine to my cat friends. "Well, my pet poops bigger than yours do!" It only gets bigger from there. At least he didn't crawl through it and make a little mud hut with his hide. Ugh. I have back-up tubs for this.

a lot of reptiles that live in dry climates where they get little water will produce solid urine in the form of urates. This helps the animal to concerve liquid water as opposed to dispelling it as waste. If the animal has a lot of water available, you will find more actual liquid urine along with the urates.

The poop looks pretty healthy overall, but I noticed that on the chunk (lovely, right?) allllll the way to the right, on the end of it, there is a light(er) brown string-looking thing. When Raven had these a while back they were parasites. It cost me $500 to get him well again because they were untreated for so long before I got him.

Double-check his poop from time to time and just make sure he doesn't have any sort of worm or other parasite. It might be absolutely nothing, but it might be something. Don't freak out because I said it, just take a second look. :P

it ate a quarter??

You should see what my big (2500g) girl poops out... she only goes like once every 6 weeks, but it would put a Great Dane to shame. :O

ya i checked it out when i saw it cuz i didnt recognize it as a part of a mouse.. after careful examination ( with gloves ) it was aspen bedding. i heard that this can cause blockage so i changed the bedding to reptibark

At least he didn't play in it. I swear my pied doesn't like the white parts on him because every time he poops, he gets it all over him. Pretty much have to give him a bath every time he craps.

ahh dont use that reptibark. Use unprinted newspaper or paper towel. i would never use reptibark with my ball pythons. Get some chlorahexadine to mix with water to clean his tank out weekly.
