Re: UFC 111 in Newark, New Jersey...
Mir has really impressed me lately. I think he will dominate.
-
Re: UFC 111 in Newark, New Jersey...
Just an FYI. I just found out that Ricardo Funch (7-1 MMA, 0-1 UFC) has been forced off the UFC 111 preliminary card, and UFC newcomer Greg Soto (7-0 MMA, 0-0 UFC) is expected to take his spot on the preliminary card against Matthew Riddle (3-1 MMA, 3-1 UFC).

Re: UFC 111 in Newark, New Jersey...
If Big Gunns is up NJ way, he may just need to make a guest appearance at this event. Hopefully Dana can hold Big Gunns usually ringside seats until he finds out his plans.:D

Re: UFC 111 in Newark, New Jersey...
Matchups:
UFC Welterweight Championship
Georges St. Pierre vs. Dan Hardy (I think GSP will take this fight. It should be a great fight.)
Interim UFC Heavyweight Championship
Frank Mir vs. Shane Carwin (This one is tough. Carwin is an animal and do we really want to see Mir vs Lesner III? After Mir's last comment maybe. I am going Carwin for this one.)
Jon Fitch vs. Thiago Alves (Fitch is a great fighter but I think Alves will take this one.)
Ricardo Almeida vs. Matt Brown (I have to go with the home town boy)
Jake Ellenberger vs. Ben Saunders (Saunders)
Jim Miller vs. Mark Bocek (Bocek)
Nate Diaz vs. Rory Markham (Diaz after his 15 submission attempt)
Rousimar Palhares vs. Tomasz Drwal
Kurt Pellegrino vs. Fabricio Camoes (Pellegrino)
Matt Riddle vs. Ricardo Funch (Funch)
I would have loved to attended this event but the price of the tickets where crazy and I was not going to sit way up top.

How goes it fellas?
New to the site but I love MMA and am glad to see that there are other fans here as well. I have been looking at this upcoming card for a while...Im more in excitement over the Abu Dahbi card though but this one should be pretty decent. I eventaully want to see how Carwin would do against Lesnar but I dont think that he will make it past Mir...Frank has been on a streak lately. I hope that Nate Diaz pulls this win off in his usual fashion. His last fight against Maynard was sort of disappointing...
Big Gunns...man it is a weird coincidence (sp?) that I spotted your avatar. I litterally just left Malaysia a few days ago and was standing under the towers and snapping pics!! Small world huh?!

One of Big Gunns favorite places in the world. BG doubts many people on here realized where that pic is.
What country won't allow video steams for yah?

Re: UFC 111 in Newark, New Jersey...
I'm going out on a limb and saying that the carwin/mir fight is going to be one of the best we've seen from both fighters.
I think Mir has been working harder than ever before in his career, and it has shown. Carwin is going to be among the top heavyweight fighters for years to come. This will be interesting. I'm going to cast my vote for Carwin simply because, as mentioned already, who wants to see Lesnar/Mir III? At least, not until Lesnar gets to test himself against a few other fighters first.
GSP is going to manhandle Hardy. I'm no GSP fan, but I've never been impressed by Hardy, and was especially unimpressed with his last fight. I'll certainly be standing and cheering loudly if he does happen to prove me wrong though!

Re: UFC 111 in Newark, New Jersey...
Jon Fitch is fighting Ben Saunders now and not Thiago Alves :( I like the Pit Bull and would like to of sen him prove me wrong and beat Jon Fitch this time.Thiago was not approved to fight following a CAT scan that revealed an issue with the fighter's brain that could not be solved by fight time :(

Re: UFC 111 in Newark, New Jersey...
I was pretty much on with my picks except the Mir/Carwin fight. I really like Carwin and hated picking aganist him but I thought Mir was going to take him. I am really impressed Carwin defeated Mir so fast :salute:

Re: UFC 111 in Newark, New Jersey...
Who knew Hardy was made of rubber?
And GSP, classy as ever.
-
Re: UFC 111 in Newark, New Jersey...
I have a new hero. Hardy.. Wow
I was not impressed with the "fight" overall but gained a new respect fot Hardy.
Always happy to see Mir get beat down.
-
Re: UFC 111 in Newark, New Jersey...
It was a tough decision but I was watching boxing last night. Caught Mir/Carwin this morning and loved it. Frank Mir had that coming.
Happy we get Brock vs (Carwin/Velazquez/anyone but Mir 3).

-Rousimar Palhares was suspended for 90 days for not releasing the heel hook submission he used to defeat Drwal.

Re: UFC 111 in Newark, New Jersey...
Stoked GSP is continuing his winning streak...IMO, he represents UFC and MMA very well and a class act too boot...
Happy Mir lost...Why was he suspended?

Mir was suspended due to the way he lost. I think it is mandatory if you lose that way to get this type of suspension and nothing personal towards Mir.

Re: UFC 111 in Newark, New Jersey...
All of the fights were pretty obvious, I was not impressed with the decision between Jim Miller and Mark Bocek. Bocek controlled 90% of the fight.
