Twitching ball of an impatient mess.
I am on day 43. Oh Em Gee.
Waiting hasnt been an issue so far, Ive been more or less just enjoying candling the eggs here and there. But here I am, on day 43, fighting back urges to become a surgeon in another 7 days. Im incubating at 90, and day 50-52 is the accepted norm for cuttin when incubating at those temps. I want to wait till the first one pips, but the patience bank is overdrawn and I don't know how Im going to hold off that long. I honestly want to cut for 2 reasons:
1) To add another notch on the breeding skill and experience bed post
2) To see if I have recreated my treasured Mojave boy's colors and pattern.
And thus, a poll.
When should I slice and dice?
Re: Twitching ball of an impatient mess.
Personally I would wait until day 50 but thats just me
Re: Twitching ball of an impatient mess.
I have personally always waited until the first one pips to cut the others.
Re: Twitching ball of an impatient mess.
I voted for 50...so Im outnumbered lol.
Re: Twitching ball of an impatient mess.
Never had a clutch, but when I do within the year I plan on not cutting until at least day 53, probably 55. I plan on incubating at 88.7-89.
Re: Twitching ball of an impatient mess.
I always wait to day 55.

Re: Twitching ball of an impatient mess.
I would say day 55. I waited last year until one pipped, I will cut on day 55 this year though.
Re: Twitching ball of an impatient mess.
I voted to wait for the pip. Both of my boys were born by sheduled C-sections because my wife had placenta previa with the first pregnancy, so I never got to experience the excitement of rushing to the hospital. Waiting for eggs to pip is the closest I'll come unless I decide to try for a girl oneday(not planning on it).
Re: Twitching ball of an impatient mess.
I usually cut between day 52 and 55.
Just remember everything has risk involved so it is very important that you know what you are doing.
If you decide to cut I highly recommend you to candle each eggs prior to doing it to see where the veins are and to avoid cutting into them. :gj:
Re: Twitching ball of an impatient mess.
I wait until one pips, then cut away.
I incubate at 89-90 and my eggs usually pip around day 50-52.
Re: Twitching ball of an impatient mess.
I don't cut, but I suppose if you're dead set on cutting it would be best to wait for the first to begin pipping on their own.
Re: Twitching ball of an impatient mess.
Fiiiiiiiiiiiiine Ill wait.
Re: Twitching ball of an impatient mess.
I wait until the first one comes thru, unless one of the eggs didn't dent. Then I cut to relieve the pressure and make sure that there's an air bubble for the hatchling. They are what they are. But I do candle and with the albino's to hets and possible lucys clutches you can tell by candling!
Re: Twitching ball of an impatient mess.
Day 55 or when the first one pip.
Re: Twitching ball of an impatient mess.
Cut no earlier than day 52.
Another reason to wait, based on my experience is that as soon as you cut, your brain will tell you that they should hatch the next day. I have cut as earle as day 47, and the wait for them to come out once I knew what was in there, was DREADFUL. This year, I plan on cutting no earlier than day 53 (most of our eggs were cut on day 49 last year).
Hope that helps,

Yarghhh Im on day 49 right now. Ive decided to wait until they pip. I realized that I want to experience that first head coming out of the egg naturally. Fortunately, my schedule just changed where I have weekends, and I expect day 52 to be the first pip, but either way 5 will have days 50-53 to just sit and wath the bator.

Getting SUPER close... how are those nerves treating you?
