Nice! You said "another", have you built this exact same size before? If so, how long have you been using it and has it begun to sag any?

Racks this size will not sag due to being smaller shelving. you will never have to worry about sagging ever. Moisture will be only thing you have to worry about.

I have a melamine rack about this size but taller in garage for tools thats 5 years old NO SAG. But when you get into the larger tubs like 41qts then sagging happens slowly over time.

Keep in mind that sagging only occurs when the wood is too wide with no supports.

Yeah, I know about the wide shelf sag all too well. I was just asking about this particular design, thanks!

Oh, 1 other question... Are there 2 different types of Sterilite 6qt tubs? The ones in your pics look different than mine. Yours appear to have a smooth bottom.

Yes sterilite discontinued their old 6 qt tubs and moved to a narrower one which i hate.

Ok, yeah that what I was noticing. The ones I have must be the newer ones. I only use them for mealworms now, but need to build a baby rack, and thought they would be terrible for it. Does iris or someone else make a better alternative?

just check dollar stores as they carry them sometimes and if you find one with more floor space buy up a bunch

I may do that but I'm hesitant on building a rack to fit a known discontinued tub. Anyway thanks for the info., and your rack does look great!

just grab as many tubs you need to complete the rack, not like the tubs will break or anything. Once you have them all your set

Yeah, but the problem is, who knows how many more 6qt racks I'll decide to build this year, and I'd kinda like them to match. Right now I need 3. One for upcoming bp hatchlings, 1 for gecko hatchlings and 1 for the 25 5 month old corns I have.

Same here, but I don't have the time to build all 3 right now. The corns need theirs right away and the first geckos are due to hatch in about 10 days. However, the bp's have not even layed yet so that rack will be a couple months away and I don't want to end up with 2 different styles of 6qt racks.

What do you have to worry about moisture??

    Re: 6qt Rach 14 tubs
If their is to much moisture or condensation in the tubs it could cause the wood to swell/warp and then make the tubs not fit the shelves properly. For any noticeable swelling for the tubs to not fit right it would take a very long time to develop.

If a shelf were to ever get wet on me i would simply take it out of the rack and re-cut a new piece and reinstall it. I have sheets extra in garage so i dont worry about moisture
