Rodents in my Kitchen (lots of pics)
I'll show you mine, you show me yours!
My kitchen sure is noisy with all the waterbottles going clack clack clack. :D
Just finished building a 12 tub rat rack setup and am working on filling them up. It's so nice compared to the old bakers rack I used to have with tubs and lids.
I painted the racks white to match my kitchen, and am working on making the tubs blue, just cause I liked the color.

I just clean regularly. Mice cages every other day and rats every 4-5days, more often for mothers with litters. I don't really have a set schedule I just clean when things start looking (or smelling) dirty.
I know it sounds like a lot of work but with rack systems and an extra tub so I can just switch everyone over it only takes me 30 mins or so to clean everyone.
I also move the racks to the other side of the room and frebreeze the walls and curtains once a month too keep any oder from settling in permanently.

Here a few more pics to show the layout of my kitchen. Starting with the racks and turning to the left.
It's really not a very big room. Hence the need for racks, without them I never would have been able to fit everything on one wall.

Re: Rodents in my Kitchen (lots of pics)
I'm getting ready to convert a 30 gal fish tank into a three section breeder tank. Each section will hold a female, except the third which will probably have my one or two breeder males. The males are going to get visiting rights for 48 hours, then pulled off. That way, I have a good idea when pups are due and I can prepare a head of time. Once I get it set up, hopefully in the next few days, I'll post pictures.

It sounds like a good idea, but I'm gonna warn you, a fish tank is really heavy when you have to clean every 3 days, and with dividers it won't dump very easy.
You'd probably be better off buying some tubs for 3 dollars each at home depot and putting mesh in the lids.

Tubs aren't an option. My room is very small, so tanks is all I can have (and I can barely fit those in on preexisting shelving). Besides, shop vacs work great for cleaning out tanks.

I don't see how a tub takes up any more room than a tank. but go for it. Post pics when you're done, I'd like to see how you build dividers. :)

I have shelves that I have my tv/books on. I've gotten rid of some of the books and replaced them with tanks. Long story short, I have no closet, so a lot of room is taken up by a dresser and wardrobe. Pretty much everything is wall to wall furniture. My room is basically 6 1/2 wide and about 14 foot long.

Holy cow thats a lot of rodents! For the first minte or two I was thinking that you were crazy to have all those rats, mice, ASF and gerbils for just 6 snakes but then I saw that you sell them as feeders.:P:oops:

Feeders and pets, it's amazing how many people are looking for pet rodents out there.
Yeah, I started out with just 1.2 mice and it kinda became an addiction. I'm one of those people who say that one of the best things about owning snakes is that you have a reason to have too many rodents! lol. Plus it's gratifying to know that I'm actually making money off my hobby.
In addition to my 6 snakes my roommate has 5 snakes, 2 corns, 2 reg bp's and 1 albino bp. So we go through our fair share as well.

Re: Rodents in my Kitchen (lots of pics)
Once I have around 6 snakes I think Im going to consider building a rat breeding shed out back. But just a couple of rats at first. I wouldnt be able to stand the smell or stand anyone else smelling it too.

Re: Rodents in my Kitchen (lots of pics)
Rats actually don't smell bad, at least no in comparison to mice. With rats you smell the feces build up which a cleaning once a week more than takes care of. With mice it's the urine which you have to keep on top of because if you don't it soaks into everything.

Reptiles in my living room! lol.
I'm gonna post pics of all the snakes ect. living in my house in the snake forum so check it out if you want to see all my tank setups.
