Bulk newspaper?
Newspaper users....
Do you guys have a place/source you get this stuff in bulk?
Obviously I could buy a bunch of the Sunday papers, but that'd add up pretty quick.
Thanks in advance guys!

Re: Bulk newspaper?
You can ask family and friends to send you their old newspaper. I use mostly Aspen, so I can't really help you, but family and friends should be more than enough for most herpers.
Good Luck!

Re: Bulk newspaper?
i just buy 2 sunday papers and usually last me all week with my bearded dragons and my bp's ( i own over 20 adult dragons and 6 bp's)

Re: Bulk newspaper?
I'd talk with your local newspaper. They always have mis-prints/extra copies that they recycle but will also sell cheap! I've picked up a pallet of mis-print full Sunday editions for a local humane society for only $20. Their was probably 1000lbs of newspaper on the pallet.

Re: Bulk newspaper?
My mom buys the daily paper mainly for just the Sunday paper. She says it's cheaper to do it like that. I use all the newspaper from the days as she only gets the Sunday paper for the coupons.

Re: Bulk newspaper?
Thanks for the ideas guys!
I contacted my local paper and it appears that the "end rolls" are what is going to available from a local recycler they sell them to.
Just have to find out what it's going to cost me if I go that route.
May end up just having friends and family hoard paper haha

Re: Bulk newspaper?
We have about 100 boas I use news paper with. The balls are on cypress and aspen.
I have 3 friends that get the daily paper and save it for me. I'm on the edge of buying the craft paper the other big breeders do.

Re: Bulk newspaper?
I use Kraft, there's no big breeder deal with it.
It's real uniform and looks nice.
It can get rather expensive though.

Re: Bulk newspaper?
My local newspaper will give away the end rolls (which are huge, we get them and let the kids draw on the paper and stuff). You can also go to local newspaper retailers (grocery stores, etc) and ask if they have any papers left over from the day before and some of them will give these papers away free (I got a huge stack for my bird cage for free). Hope this helps!

Re: Bulk newspaper?
I talked to my local paper and they sell them to a local paper recycler.
I can buy end rolls like the ones you describe.
BUT.....
I would get an 800lb roll of 4 foot wide unprinted newspaper thats roughly 275 feet long at....
50 cents a pound
Do the math.
It's not very economical

Oh ok, I was thinking of the paper a friend of mine uses. It has ridges in it. I looked it up once but never got it.

Re: Bulk newspaper?
Had to have been either indented paper or like single faced cardboard I would think.
I've used the Indented Kraft before, pretty absorbent, but the paper weight was higher so it wasn't as "soft".

Re: Bulk newspaper?
We have have a local classifieds paper, which is free, that I just grab a stack of every month or so and we also have a free Wednesday paper. Maybe there are free papers in your area or close by?
