    Enough ventilation?
Just finished treating my screen top, want to make sure this is enough ventilation. Tank is a 40g Breeder.

I would say so. Looks good. What kind of tape you use? I hope not duct..
I would think that would melt huh?? lol
Is that duct tape? I would just be worried that it would catch on fire.. Then you have more problems than how your pet is. I have used in the past this metal tape that works wonders.
As long as your temps stay good and your humidity is good I say its a go!!.. Just the whole tape thing.. Someone else chime in here if I am off on the whole duct tape thing so close to the heat..
    Good job.:gj:

Thats fine. That is exactly what I did to my 40 gal breeder for my Burm. As long as the hole for the heat lamp is not in direct contact with the heat it will be fine. I cut the tape about 1/8 in bigger than the lamp itself so the edges are not even touching the tape. Then instead of cutting a big square for ventilation, I just left about a 2in gap all along the back of the lid.

The only real problem with duct tape is it will not stay on there very good. So make sure the edges were overlapped enough. Dont put it on the underside of the screen though. It will quickly come off and the snake can get stuck to it.

Duct tape is not going to catch on fire. At least not under a heat lamp.

I have to agree... That lamp looks awefully close to the tape... I would make the hole wider. If you are not concerned, at least think about you snake in there. :please:

    Hi,

Can't you just replace the duct tape with tinfoil and use duct tape only to hold that down at the edges?

A nice double layer of tinfoil should do the job perfectly with none of the fire risk or nasty smell.
