Wooo! Black Pastel x Yellow Belly!
Trey Barnard of Fire Ball Pythons called me late last night and informed me that my Yellow Belly female is currently locked up with his Black Pastel Male!

Him and I have a couple of breeding loans together this season (some Lesser Platty stuff) but that one is the one I am most excited about!

If they were at my place you'd have TONS of pictures. :P But we're doing it at Trey's and this wasn't a really quick lock, he'd been with her for almost two weeks before he figured out what he was there for. :D So Trey probably didn't want to mess with them.

That sounds like an exciting pairing!! Can't wait to see the offspring.

Wonder what a super cinnie/black pastel ivory would look like?

That's what we're wondering and is the goal :). If we get a male and if the odd gods are on our side we're going to shoot for Super Black Yellow Bellies and Ivory Black Pastels in '11.

    Congrats on the lock!

You say the male had been with the female for almost 2 weeks? Is that constantly with her? Or on some sort of rotation like the typical 3 in/3 out? Does leaving an inexperienced male in with a female for a longer period of time without separating tend to help him figure things out? Like maybe it gives him a chance to settle in and get less stressed?

Not sure if he was in constantly, you'd have to ask Trey. However the male is not inexperienced, he bred last year and sired 5 Black Pastels.
