    problem or normal?
ok so i have had this bp for less then 15 days the first 13 14 went A ok until the past 2 days... i found mites in the cage bought mite spray.. cleaned entire cage and he is now on paper towl to insure no more mite problems for the moment... but heres the thing... when i got izzy he was very firm all over his body but now i can press my finger on his belly and it mushes inwards.. and it gets worse at his tail since every other part of him is off n on but now his tail area before his vent is always mooshy.. should i be worried or is this normal?

first bp so i have no clue on what to expect atm

What do you mean mush in? I can press on my snakes belly, depending on whether or not they are using the muscles there, sometimes I can press in easily and sometimes there is muscle resistance.

Pictures will help a lot. To get rid of the mites 100% you need to order Provent a Mite.

As for the skin could be dehydration or bloating or them just sucking it away from your touch. Pictures can help us a bit.

It could be just his muscles going back. Mine normally do this when I touch their bellies.

no way to take a pic of this currently alone and i need both hands on izzy.

ok so picture this... u have a balloon full of air.. u no the noise it makes when u tap it.. sounds hollow... about an inch of his lower body near the vent is like this when his upper part is nice n firm like a balloon filled with sand..

i can run my finger down his belly and when i hit a certain part he moves alot and my finger with hardly any force goes down ... he wont go under his hide keeps being crazy n just lays in the open near his water bowl this is very odd behavior for him since he hardly ever stays still when the lights are off ... fed him about 2 days ago 2 to 3 ... fed just the norm adult mouse f/t

He may be constipated/Impacted. Soak him in luke warm water in a plastic tub for 30mins and see if it helps relieve him

that looks like hes still digesting. make sure hes warm enough and has belly heat to help digest and leave him alone for a couple of days.

You followed the directions on the mite spray..... right??? It is very very important that you follow these totally specifically.

If you did not ....it could be something due to that. I don't want to freak you out....but I do see some bloating down there.

bottle said to.. spray evenly over the entire body and to spray his cage.. i left it on him since it said nothing about wiping it off.. i fed him 3 days ago.. found white chalky stuff in his cage this morning.. i no thats norm but i ges that could be part of the reason for the bloating? it took him about a week to pass his last mouse so unless they hold it near the vent for 4 days thats not the prey item... been 11 hours hes still bloated under his hide is 90 degrees im letting it be that high to help move w/e it is out... other side of of the cage is 80 middle 85

if it is a lil backed up then a bath should help. also, mine poops while i let it crawl on the carpet. i hate it but i guess it helps push everything down toward the back

came home today and i find him back in his cage... see i broke it awhile ago and finally got around to cocking it today so he had to stay out.. was nice n warm under his hide.. 90 imo to high for his hide i like to keep it 85 86 max rest of the cage is w/e middle will be 80 and about 90 94 at the other side.. but anyways i come home and he isnt as bloated and can flex the muscles back near his vent.. but he makes a gurgling noise inside.. i read that is norm if he is digesting food so im not worried about it... plus he seems to be alot more active now :) and i got him for 90 from petco i own a bts no probs at all and i dont even stress about his cage ... he was a nice amount 200 lol

but yeah no mites less bloating more active gessing hes going to be fine :) gonna give him another bath tonight probs just to make sure

even took him out on the floor ... and my skink... only the skink pooped lol
was nasty he lifts his back legs like straight in the air then crawls its funny but gross

Well 90 isnt the going price for normals, can get them all day 15-40 from breeders.

On a side note if hes making gurgle noise from his mouth thats NOT normal. That is a sign of a respiratory infection which means VET TIME.

but yeah he is very active atm wants out but ima leave him in there till the morning when i get up

probs gonna feed him in a day or 2 hes eating every 5 to 6 days 1 adult mouse :snake:

Ok.....gurgling at times. My Samantha has done that when she was a little smaller and I FREAKED. I called the breeder to talk to him about that and it is a little normal. She is just empty and a little more farty than the others. Once you feed them.....it seems to go away. I have had this sound with her a few times.........but she is fine and has a HUGE feeding response. HUGE!!!!! Typically I see the poofyness right before the vent.....they will have this until they poo. We take ours out every Tues. which is 48 hours after they eat. We put blankets and towels down and let them crawl around for a couple of hours. We also do this on Wednesday as well. They always poo on the blanket by Wednesday. I personally think it is the moving around gets it worked out. After they go we let them cruize around off the blanket.

Being active is a sign of stress. While it is not necessarily a bad thing, just keep in mind that this doesn't mean he is "better" or "happy".

Your temps just seem to be all over the place. You should have a cool side and a warm side temperature gradient. Not a warm side, cool side, then a warm side again. You should also have two identical hides. One for the warm side and one for the cool side. In your other post it just looks like you have a bunch of wood and one hide. The wood is really unnecessary and will just be annoying to clean. Ball pythons are not active snakes and will spend 90% of their time in their hides.

lol izzy seems to be a man eating snake then.. since he is always out during the night during the day we will never see him.... plz note hes nocturnal so this should be normal right? dont think he spend 23 hours in 1 spot.. he does enjoy the dirt since now that hes on paper towl he wants out all the time... heres pics of my temps i went ahead and took a sharpy to the glass to lable the sides

the right side ses 80.3 ? so the temps go as follwed

    left 90+
    middle 85
    right 80

so my temps are correct he has a hot side a middle and then a cold

i give him a middle since he has 1 hide and 85 is a good temp for him for the day for the night he is all over the cage

going to feed him since someone said there snake gets like mine when it is hungry and he did leave a dropping ... not the size of his last one but still he passed something
