wisdom teeth!
so yeah i got my wisdom teeth out this morning. lol it was freaking crazy how fast they did it. they knocked me out with an anistetic from an IV and the doc told me it would take about 15 seconds to kick in and when i got to about 5 i was out cold!!!!! woke up 2 seconds later still trying to count and they were done! now i have bloody gauze all up in my mouth and all i can eat for the next two days is jello pudding and broth.
still cant feel my face and i got the operation done at 10 this morning! i guess all the pain pills they gave me will keep me from feeling anything for the next couple days, so im thankful for that. this is the first time ive had any crazy operation in 22 years of life. YAY!!!!
just thought id share!

Re: wisdom teeth!
Getting wisdom teeth pulled is fun! haha
Just dont use any straws or smoke for a few days so you dont get dry sockets:gj:

Re: wisdom teeth!
the smoking part is gonna kill me!
-
Re: wisdom teeth!
I got mine pulled while I was still a smoker, I have now quit though.
I hate to be encouraging, but you CAN smoke, it's just a gamble so I dont recommend it.
I WOULD recommend to use these days to get you on the road to quitting though!

Re: wisdom teeth!
I had mine out last year and it was no fun. But it’s much better than having the Paine I was in. Did they leave the holes where your teeth were open or did the close them up, they left mine open and it SUCKED but healed much faster

Re: wisdom teeth!
That is a great way to quit actually. You already aren't supposed to so just run from there.
The day I got my wisdom teeth out was the same day I built my rat rack. You should have seen me at the hardware store with gauze in my mouth trying to explain why I needed half inch hardware cloth.

Re: wisdom teeth!
I got 4 out, 3 impacted and was eating solid food that same day. I did curse out the nurse that was helping me to my car, but that was about the extent of my ridiculous behavior.

Re: wisdom teeth!
I got my wisdom teeth out when I was 16. All four of mine were impacted so it took a little over an hour for the surgery. I was a nutcase when I woke up. I just couldn't stop laughing and being goofy! I was out riding my horse the next day. The pain wasn't terrible and I stopped taking the medications after three days. I didn't like how they made me feel.

Re: wisdom teeth!
When my sister-in-law had her wisdom teeth removed I bought her large jawbreaker and rock candy as a gift...I thought it was funny but I'm not sure that she did. :D:D

Re: wisdom teeth!

Re: wisdom teeth!
I consider myself lucky that I have all 4 of my wisdoms as they came in perfect years ago. I do have a friend that had them out though and the dentist told us that if the sockets start hurting or bleeding in the next few days just get a tea bag wet and put it in there like gauze.. Something about the tea stops the bleeding and helps prevent dry socket. I have since heard of alot of people doing this and swearing by it.

yea my dad already told me about that teabag trick. all my wisdom teeth were coming in straight and had plenty of room, the dentist just said it would be better for me to do it now that im 22 cause further down the line it would lead to peridontal disease.

Yeah my dentist told me a few yrs ago that I could have them out if I wanted just because its so hard to brush them without stabbing yourself in the throat. Which is why alot of people end up with bad wisdoms. I opted to keep them because I brush them good and some of my other molars have fillings. I figure if I ever have to have any molars pulled down the rd because they were filled so long ago, at least I'll still have some to chew with lol.

Re: wisdom teeth!
I got mine out when I was 17. I didn't get knocked out. They just numbed me up, popped them out and I was out the door! I wasn't in the chair for longer than 20 mins. It was pretty cool. They gave me the generic for Vicoden and I had to give it away cuz I didn't like the way it made me feel. I don't remember going through that much pain, but there was pain. I swelled up really bad, and it looked like someone tried to strangle me cuz I bruised up pretty bad. My BF was calling me chipmunk for the week.
I actually only got 3 out. I had them pull a molar a long time ago, and the wisdom tooth on that side was starting to come in. They said they wanted to let it come in all the way to see if it would act as a replacement to the lost molar. It didn't, but whatever. It doesn't bother me that much.
My BF got his out when he was 25 and that was a nightmare! They knocked him out and he was sooooo funny when he came out. I think he was still dreaming, and mumbling some weird stuff! One of his teeth was impacted and they actually punctured his sinus while trying to get it out. The dr was awesome though, we were able to call him at 3 AM and ask him what to do... He was out walking his dog! Lol.

Re: wisdom teeth!
I got mine about a year and a half ago. I had to have two other teeth removed, and since two of my wisdom teeth were coming in impacted they went ahead and removed them as well. I ended up getting 4 teeth and then all 4 wisdom teeth out in the same shot (I was getting braces as soon as they all healed up) and I couldn't eat hardly anything! I couldn't really chew using my front teeth b/c I hit the holes where the other teeth came out, and couldn't chew in the back b/c the holes from the wisdom teeth! There wasn't much pain, and outside of the irritation of not being able to eat anything, it went perfectly smoothly.

Re: wisdom teeth!
I've had all 4 of mine pulled bottom 2 no problem they just popped out like nothing, my top on the other hand ... well the roots went back into the hinge of my jaw so they werent able to see that they flared out at the ends on the X-rays.
To top it off the one on my top left cork screwed then anchored:(
Took 2 men to pull it because I refused to leave the chair till they had it out (that day)!
Went straight to taco bell after, spit out the gauze and ate a couple tacos while my mom watched in disbelief.
LOL, I wanted something with crunch and was hell bent on it cause I had been eating soft foods for two weeks just waiting to get in to have them pulled.

Re: wisdom teeth!
I am getting mine taken out this summer I believe. Or so that is my plan. I only have 3 and one is impacted. About 6 months ago my dentist gave me a reference to an oral surgeon, so I took that as my clue to get it done when i get a chance.
My dad has had so much dental work done in terms of having teeth pulled and fixed that his oral surgeon joked with him once that he had single handedly paid for his childs college education. :O :O

No kidding... My last round to the dentist was a nightmare for my bank account. It didn't help that they didn't tell me they were "outside" my insurance network until the day of my crown appointment... Those suckers are expensive!

Re: wisdom teeth!
Congrats! I had that done last summer. I was scared stiff but it wasn't so bad! Good luck on your recovery!

Re: wisdom teeth!
had my wisdom teeth taken out in october and a week later i had pneumonia from my immune system breaking down from the antibiotics. It took months and months of eating healthy to build it back up to where I now dont get sick anymore. I had been getting really sick for a few months after the surgery was done. Mind you i never get sick whats so ever. I may get a cold here and there but never anything more than that. I ended up with pneumonia 3 times in 3 months. Was deff not fun waking up not being able to breathe.
