I don't understand? A piece of the shed or an actual piece the tail? If you can take a pic, this sound weird...

Hi,
I think he means he tore the old skin while she was in blue and thus had a layer of liquid between the old skin due to be shed and the new skin forming underneath?
Sadly I have no idea if this will have any consequences for the skin underneath or what he should do in the meantime.

yeah thats what i did, technically since she's in the blue the old layer of skin is nearly all eatin away by the liquid and the underneath layer nearly all developed so there's no really any big danger but i wanted some advice from the experts anyway maybe someone expirienced this.

You will probably see a delay in the shed due to this. You may also see a continuing issue with that area in the future. I would recommend that you not handle the snake once it starts the shedding process. This is for your protection too. Some snakes get a little grumpy during this time and can bite.
Good Luck!

I'm just waiting for one of the other members to say that snakes don't have feelings and don't necessarily "like" stuff.;)

I had a patch of skin accidently get rubbed off while one of my snakes was going into blue and this is what it looked like post shed:

The yellow patch is where the skin rubbed off. It slowly went back to normal, and at first I had to put neosporin on it to keep the scales from drying out and flaking up.

When I first got my snake someone on here put it to me like this....(sorry cannot remember who). Think of a sunburn....you really don't want to be touched. Made sense to me....so once they are blue...I try not to handle.

I'm kind of in the camp that snakes defnitely have preferences. While yeah, some of mine don't like being handled (tho they do tolerate it), some of them seem to prefer being wrapped around my hand rather than being put back in their tank.

true, i don't agree with "snakes don't have feelings" my snake was hurting when i touched her tail tip after what happened, so they have pain. my snake loves and relaxes when i pet her back and she even likes when i pet her head altough i heard people saying they don't like when you touch their heads. snakes are one spicies that is not yet fully understand, like when people used to say they shed to grow and now scientist have their doubts on it, and when they used to say they don't heard cause they don't have external ears, now they discovered they have internal once and there's 2possiblities, one that they hear less then normal and one that they have an advanced hearing system more then other animals.
so i wouldn't say they don't have feelings. again im amazed by that burmese python that is let loose in the house with a small kid and they play with each and the python has his own room.

I think your snake will be fine, I just "saved" one that had bad burns cuz some idiot who didnt know how to care for them kept them all 4 in the same tank and also on heat rocks! The heat rocks burned her because she was trying to find a warm spot due the others being on the UTH...She finally shed enough that unless you are looking real hard for it you barely notice. And about the snakes and feelings thing, I feel like this, After all I have read and researched, No 2 people have agreed on every topic all the time,(and I have been on about 20 forums, just reading before I finally joined this one! These people are awesome!) leading me to think that raising a snake is specific to that snake, Its an ART not a SCIENCE!!! just my opinion. ;~)

My snake shedded the day after , seems like it didn't effect her.
and yeah snake's wound will disapear with shedding unless the wound/burn hits the epidermis, thats when they will still show up even after shedding (like in humans what we call scars, because they are deep and hit the epidermis )

I handle and feed my snakes regardless if they are in blue / shed, and never have any issues.

Re: Broke a piece of skin while in the blue :|||
while shedding went ok, she got a piece of solid tissue on the part i broke. but under that part of the tail became red , tough i don't know if the scales got torn up or how did it happen or just an inflamtion, should i apply any anticeptic or something else?
