Close. Extremely close. It is a dispholidine.
The germans call it Schwarze Baumschlange - Black Boomslang. But it really isn't a boomer. It's like a spotted python to a children's python. Practically the same - but slightly different.
Different species. Same venom.
That's the third clue.
As another aside I have a trio. I have bought everyone I could find. I cannot find anyone who has them or who imports them on a regular basis. The big issue with them is that they are so close to boomers that when I bought my first trio, one was actually a boomslang. The different is in the labial scales and the dentition.
While I don't recommend this species for everyone, if you are careful and respect them, they are one of the most rewarding snakes around.
