    please help me quickly!!
I dropped 400 bones on a new tank and accesories for my growing ball today. so I am sticking the new uth to the tank and accidently stick it to plastic parts of the tank. So I decide its a good idea to trim the uth with scissors.

I plugged it in and to my surprise it doesnt work(sarcasm)

so I went out and bought a new one but I can unstick the other one. the lady at the store suggested not to stick it to the tank but place it on the table underneath the tank that way if I have to move it , its no big deal.

so I am doing that now, is that the wrong thing to do? help!!

Foil tape is a good way to stick it on so it is removable later.

honestly when i took the uth heater off my glass tanks i just pulled them off no problem.... covered them with wax paper and they were good to go. can take the wax paper off and stick it to another tank if i wanted.

Remove the old one or put the new one on the other side of the tank.

If you don't mind me asking, how did you spend $400 on a bp enclosure?

    Re: please help me quickly!!
lol the enclosure it self was 240, plus uth, big bag of bedding , new hide, 2 plants, big center cave/climbing thingy, and now a new uth, after all that it was 400 bones :(, I will post pictures in here if you like, its a very nice enclosure.

I got impatient with the old uth so I got an exacto and sliced of the cord and about 2 inches down from that straight across, so its just the flat pad on the tank and I properly stuck the new one over top, I mean I dont see it being a fire hazard or nothing so we'll see here.

Dont recommend sticking uth to the tank. when you buy them just leave the paper on it or take it off and cover with wax paper or foil tape and then tape them to the tank so you can remove them later like het.pied said earlier will make things much easier if you ever want to switch enclosures again

Wow, that is a very nice setup indeed, but in my mine $400 is about housing for 50 snakes :) . Good choices! But i would definitely either stick wax paper, or leave the wax paper that's already on the sticky part of the uth on, so you can move it anywhere you want to. That's what i did and now i actually have about an inch of space in between the zoomed and the vision cage so its a perfect 94 in the cage when its 118 on the pad.

I agree wit hother either use wax paper or just foil tape it . I can see spending the big buck( for me ) on the tank that tank is really nice. I shutter at the ideal of getting the 160 (give or take) for those so called reptile ones with the screen tops that slide on and off from the tope. I prefer my 8 buck tubs and my racks since i don't have the room to place 18 tanks around in single 7x8 sq ft room

thanks alot, yeah i am really happy I didnt have to get one of those tanks, they are such a pain in the ass for changing water and getting the snake out.

Now I can just slide the big front doors or open the screen on the top.

Wait a second, help me clarify something please.

You aren't saying you put the new UTH over top of the old one are you?

Because if you did there is no way the heat from the new one can pass through the old one. I'm pretty sure this is just me being an idiot, but I have to be sure for your sake and your snakes.

Very nice setup by the way, I hope to have a showtank like that one day for the pied I hope to breed in a few years.

Having the new UTH over the old really wont be a problem. All the heating pads I've ever dealt with have been basically laminated flexwatt anyways.

It may not be as efficient as having the UTH directly on the glass (which is not efficient anyways) but it will definitely work.

If you are really concerned about it then you could put the new UTH on the other side of the enclusure (as was previously mentioned) or you could grab a straight razor and scrape the old UTH off.

Bear in mind that with ventilated sides and a full screen top, you are going to have a very difficult time keeping up the humidity in that enclosure.

That is a beautiful showcase!! Very nice....remember if you have problems with humidity..put in a humid hide...you have room.

In the future with a UTH...get some silver electrical tape and tape it on. The tape will help direct the heat upward to the tank as well. ;)

Thanks for all the compliments on the tank you guys. I am rather enjoying it myself.

Yeah the humidity is something im still trying to figure out, misting it down a few times a day is working for now but I am definitely getting a moisture box for it though.

    Thanks again!

I picked up a Repti-Fogger, and have to say I'm quite impressed with it--you should give it a try. Put it on a good timer, and you can have it run at 5 minute intervals up to 15 times a day, and that should really help a lot with cage humidity. Compared with a normal ultrasonic humidifier, the Repti-Fogger actually came out on top, and isn't terrifically more expensive.
