Well as some of you know I've been treating 3 of my snakes for an RI. Ivy has fully recovered and Alice is almost there, but no matter what me and my vet did Ceasar just went down hill. I think I may have caught it to late for him.

Today he passed, I'm not terribly surprised but it hurts just as bad. I've had this guy for around 2 years and raised him from a baby... he will be missed :tears:

I'm sorry, it's always terrible when you lose a beloved pet. You did everything you could, and although his life was short, he was well cared for and loved.

I dread the days I have to report the passing of my 2 oldest snakes sincde they both over 15 years in ager I know of at least 14 for the one since i was still in school she has been with thme though all my learning mistakes like having a cedar cage, using pine shaving , keeping her at wthe wrong temps and everythign else and she was already about 3+ ft when I caught her ( wild caught black rat snake) I also havea corn my firstrescue who been with me for almost as long since at least 1997 since my sister ex bf at the time aquired the snake for me from soneone that moved and they could not take him with them. and he was about 4ft long and about full grown ( thickness )

At least you did everything you could to help him. Thats the main thing. Nonetheless, it still doesnt make up for him being gone. Sorry for your loss.

I'm sorry to hear about your loss. It is never easy losing a pet. I have had to go through it once and fear the day it happens again...

I am deeply sorry for your loss.

Losing a treasured pet is never easy, whether it's been with us for years or only came home a week ago, we mourn them all.

I think it is wonderful you can come here and share with people who know what it feels like, and never have to deal with being told, "It as just a snake."

Having owned darn near every critter out there for a pet at one time or another, I can honestly say I had no idea you could come to love a snake as much as I do mine. I love mine every bit as much as my cats or my dog, or my ferret for that matter. Scaly, furry, feathery, it doesn't matter, you still love them and miss them when they are gone.

I am glad to hear your other snakes are recovering, I hope they can offer you some comfort in this difficult time.

We had two of the coldest weeks we've ever had here and I hadn't realized how cold the ambient temps got in the room. It was totally my fault, and I've never had this problem before in the 4 years I've had bps. Now I have a heater in there for the rest of the winter to ensure it doesn't happen again. :(

Thanks for the kind words everyone, it means a lot!

I'm sorry for your loss. Very glad to hear the others seem to be recovering.

Thanks for being brave enough to admit your mistake and to share it so that hopefully others can learn and avoid the same problem.
