GTP Hiding Under Substrate

I moved last Thursday, and now my GTP is acting wierd. He / she has always hung out on perches during the day. However, for the last two days, he / she is hiding under the substrate during the day, and coming out at night to hang out on the perches. Is it just stress from the move, or something else?

How are your temps? Could be too hot. Otherwise, i would just keep an eye on him. Does he look like he is in ambush mode or something? What type of substrate is he on?

Chondros go down when warm. If you're using belly heat this can be an issue. A GTP grounding itself for a while is not that uncommon. I wouldn't worry about it.

The temps are right on. I did not move a thing, and the probe is in the exact same spot. I am using a RHP. Additionally, the cage does not feel any warmer than it did before the move. Yes, he is in ambush mode at night when he first comes out. I noticed this morning that he was hanging out in the back, top perch of the cage, but that was early this, and the light were still out. He is on spagnum moss, but I am planning on switching him to cypress mulch as soon as I get to the pet store.

Thanks David. He seems fine other than hiding during the day. The room does have more light, so maybe he just doesn't like the light.

mine will go through phases where it will perch for a while and then only perch at night. as long as its eating and the husbandry is fine, you should have nothing to worry about.

Thanks. I noticed mine perched the other day. I fed it that night, and the next day it was hiding under the substrate again. It seems healthy, and active at night, so I assume there is nothing to worry about.

Sometimes they just want to be hidden. A chondro being a chondro.

Thanks Brandon. It just freaked me out a little since it happened just after the move.

yeah theres is nothing like having a beautiful snake in a display type setup that likes to hide!! its fun when i tell people its my favorite and they ask....where is it??

I know, I keep looking in there ever few hours, but she / he is still hiding. I'm hoping it will eventually snap out of it.

Well from a hunting aspect, s/he could feel more of an advantage down in its bedding. Is the head poking out of the bedding or anything? If so than i think its pretty cool:gj:

No, that would be cool though... My new room is about five to ten degrees hotter than the room that the cage used to be in, but the hot spot is still at 82F. The bottom of the cage is around 73.

this is normal I would not be worried. u can move a GTP to the other side of the room and it can be effected. just like upgrading to new cage sometimes they wont eat and act weird this is to be expected.
