This could be a blessing if it is done right. If they find only afew or any frozen ones , mediumed sized ones ect it could help us out.

There was a show on a little while ago for the life of me I can’t remember what it was called. But they were examining the burm that got split eating the gator and if they were truly a treat to them. When they looked at all of the evidence they came to the conclusion that the gator had got into it with most likely another gator (cuz of the bite marks on the gators head) and was if not dead already was on its way. Basically they said that the gators are not on the menu for the brums in a normal situation but more likely that the burms are on the menu for the gators if anything.

They didn’t make us look bad they only put the facts out there I just wish more shows would do it that way.

The info from the guide seems pretty one sided. Something about giant pythons have been breeding in the glades for over 100 years and hurricane andrew made it worse. Its like they have no doubt that there are man eating snakes in the glades lol. This will be enteresting however, regardless the outcome.

I'm actually watching this right now. Seems this "expert" in Florida, sees a 6-8' I believe burm in the grass near a neighborhood and he catches it and starts telling the camera how this snake could easily kill someone by wrapping around their neck, and how extremly dangerous they are, even that small.

I couldn't help but think, who would be stupid enough to pick up a wild snake that size and wrap it around their neck? Or who would be stupid enough to sleep on the ground outside in a place where alligators run loose everywhere? Because that is the only way a snake like that could get around a persons neck to kill them.

Not only that, but that little 8' burm will be at least 20' long in only 5 years.

I just loved them talking about 45' long snakes that swallow kids, and a supposedly 150' long anaconda that was seen by numerous villagers in Venezuela. Can you imagine how much that snake would weigh?

This show is BS...burms in NY?? MONSTER SNAKES?? Not helping us at all. I would much rather get bit by a 10ft burm than a 5ft gator!! And hybrids will become venomous???????????:confused:

Nothing about that was good. And yeah the burms will navigate their way through time square to get to central park. HAHAHA. Oh and then hibernate in the subways or somewhere underground during the winters. But wait, how many burms hibernate? None. The sub zero temperatures would kill the burms no problem. And come on, two burms in one night. A little unlikely seeing how there was 3-4 month search for these "monsters" and only like 11 were found. There were so many wrong, ignorant, foolish and just plain stupid comments, and people in that show to count. To call themselves experts or proffessionals is just stupid. In what respect are they experts? Look at that burm that they "found". Its tail was missing and had what looked to be an infected tail. Not to mention the gaping wounds on its head. But they had no respect for the beautiful animal. For it to be defensive is expected. Would you be a littled pissed if someone tried to hack at you and then later your minding you own business and someone grabs you. Please, have some respect for these animals. They are not monsters by any means. And the fact that this was aired is awful. It has brought even worse news and publicity to our community. Hopefully the 13,000 plus letters that were sent in will mean something. We are responsible, intelligent pet owners, and almost all of us could be reffered to as experts if these fools have been.

it seems to be the new american way spread misinfo and line someone pocket withe money and that info wil lbecome the truth.

That show was nothig but a bunch of ignorant hillbillys. Pythons in NY, really? because one guy let his redtail go?

Any person with an ounce of intelligence will see that something isn't right there. A WHOLE search and film crew funded on the whim of one boa? Searching Sewers?! C'mon. "We have reason to believe these snakes can survive further north than we thought." Yes, so let's just to ALL THE WAY UP TO NEW YORK!

    ...
    Pathetic.

Sent them a message, hard to not blow up on them, but being professional and polite always ends up dealing a bigger blow in the end.

Your episode of Monster Quest on the Burmese pythons was extremely biased and unscientific. After watching that, I will never have any respect for the programs you run on this station, as they are quite obviously not based in scientific fact. I will no longer watch programs on the history channel, and encourage friends and family to do the same.

    Re: More Bad Publicity...
I left a comment for the History Channel. This is it.

The information that was on the new MonsterQuest was awful. The "experts" barely knew what they were talking about. This show only made the situation that us as reptile keepers are trying to fight, so much worse. The idea of burmese pythons, Boas, and African Rock Pythons being able to live in NY is ignorant. These species live in areas of the world where they need constant warm temperatures. They have not evolved to hibernate in sub-zero temperatures and to think they will is ignorant. The so called "science" that was on the show was humiliating. There was no reason to think that our pets could live in NYC. The tens' of thousands of us that keep reptiles are responsible owners and we are pasionate about our pets. For this show to be aired is a disgrace. It made us, as a community, look incapable of keeping our pets. We do not release our burmese pythons, african rock pythons or reticulated pythons in the wild. Irresponsible owners, and owners we do not associate with, do this. We love our pets too much to risk their health, and we respect the other keepers in America too much to risk their chance of owning reptiles. Then for the "experts" to call the burmese pythons in the everglades an "infestation" is completely wrong. After several months of searching the everglades of Florida, only around 11 burmese pythons were found. Yet these "experts" found two in one night? And the handling of the injured burmese python was deplorable. The python's tail was cut off and looked to be infected. Then the horrible gashes on its head were clearly painful. The animal was being defensive, as would just about any animal that has been injured so severly. Yet these "experts" grab it and wrestle with it. There was no need for this. The poor animal clearly needed to be seen by an experienced veternarian. I am offended by the material and "facts" that were presented by this episode. The "experts" should be ashamed as they has misrepresented us. Scientists have said that the information out there is not scientific, and the "science" in this show was far from scientific. If there is a breeding population in the everglades it is not due to us, as a reptile keeping community, but to the zoo's that keep the breeding size burmese pythons. Our animals are worth too much to us to let them suffer in the wild. What was presented on this episode was awful. The deplorable "facts" that were presented should be considered slander against our community.
