If your ball isnt eating look at this!
EVERYONE in my collection of 6 bps ate today witch makes me verry happy!
I have 2 feeders that wont miss a meal 2 iffy and 2 finicky. i don't know if it was the fact i switched my collection over to aspen or not or the trick ive seemed to discovered. This is what i did. I soaked my 2 finicky eaters in my bathtub with 90-96 degree water for about ten minuites and then after the ten miniutes with the water still in the bath tub i dangled the mouse and BOOM both of them ate. If you have finicky eaters try this and let me know if it works. Coincidence? I dont think so... try this and let me know! :D

    ^ I am wondering, too.

And that water is a little hot don't you think? If I need to soak I make sure I use luke-warm water..

Honestly that doesn't make any sense to me. I don't understand how putting them in water would make them want to eat.....

    Well...whatever works I guess.

Re: If your ball isnt eating look at this!
i dont either... but it works and this is the second week it worked for one and just tried it with the other and it worked for both of them. Also i tried ti feed the one that it worked on last week in her tub, no dice. In the water boom, no hesitation. That is why i am putting this up here in hope of someone trying this with their snakes and seeing if it works or if im just goint nuts :D. If it works and get them eating it makes me happy.

Well tried it with my pastel nothing, my pin, nothing

Well my jag carpet which is my one snake that NEVER missed a meal for me, I put her in the bath tub and she wouldn't eat.... she just kept moving around and trying to get out not even caring about what I was doing or the rat

Put her in her cage wait 2 minutes, bam she takes it no problem.

I don't see the logic, I'm calling it BS

Honestly there is no logical correlation between putting a snake in a bathtub with water and going back on feed. Maybe your snakes were just very hungry this time around. Maybe you presented the prey items differently.

I don't think it has anything to do with a bathtub full of water though.

My best guess so far is that the water covers them on all sides and makes them feel secure. If that is the case, there is probably something wrong with your home enclosure setups.

Re: If your ball isnt eating look at this!
enclosures are fine and have 2 hides in each, the only snake that is eating regularly doesn't have a hide. I know it doesnt sound logical but it works and they wont take it in the tub.... The prey item is defrosted and presented in the same way so next week ill record it.

Take it easy on the guy.... he's happy he found something that works with his finicky eaters and wants to share... I know I'm very happy when all my little guys eat :gj:

I too don't see how this method could work, but I am interested to see it in action....

So i say video it and stick it up so we can see :gj:

Re: If your ball isnt eating look at this!
I'm going to take a stab at this one. I think it is the warm water.

    But,

I had a guy that bought a boa from me at a show. The boa was over a year old and I knew it was a good feeder. Well, he called me and the thing would not eat, I told him some things to try, and we talked about all his temps and what nots.
Still not eating. It was now going on two and a half months. I told him to bring it back up to me and I would get if feeding again. He drove 2 hours up to us and left it with one of my boys in his tub with clean coconut mulch mixed with aspen. I took him to the QT room and tried a live small rat, then a large mouse. Left him alone for a week and tried again. Nothing. I didn't like the smell of the coco mulch so I pulled the snake out after forgetting it with a mouse over night (not a good thing) put the boa and the mouse in one of my tubs with just aspen in it and walked away. 10 min later the snake was done eating. Moral of this long story, the snake didn't recognize the sent of the food with the strong smell of the coco husk fiber.

I was thinking it is either the warm water that stimulates them (even though the hot spot in their tubs is like 92 degrees or it might even be the streching out that stimulates them

I think a video would be beneficial. It may be a fluke but I'm not going to call you out on it until I see some proof one way or the other. The way I see it, it is not causing the snakes any harm and the snakes have eaten. So this "technique" has only been positive. Whether or not it actual works and the snakes are feeding DUE TO the warm bath is still up in the air, but again, there is no harm being done to the snakes and he is not presenting this as fact, just stating his experience and is putting the information out there IN CASE it may be helpful to someone else. It is not like he is saying "Hey I threw my snake off a cliff and when I went down to get it, it ate!." There is no harm being done and as long as the snake is not in danger, I see no harm in his feeding technique.
