    White Plains Show/Cool Shirts!!!
On Sunday, the 24th The National Pet Association will have a table at The New York Reptile Expo in White Plains, NY.

We'll have the latest information about The National Python & Boa Ban including information about what the next steps are and possible time lines now that the United States Fish & Wildlife Service has announced that they will initiate the official regulatory process on the nine species of constrictors currently threatened by the passage of S373 & HR2811.

We'll also have letters to sign with a newly updated message that updates your Senators about the latest action taken by the US Fish & Wildlife service and lets them know how they can help their python & boa owning constituents.

    But wait! There's more!!

We'll also be premiering our new "I Keep Snakes And I Vote" t-shirts at the show! In 2010, The National Pet Legislative Fund will be launching a voting record "score card" for Congressional candidates that will educate pet owners about each candidates voting record for either bills or laws that negatively impact responsible pet ownership.

Be one of the first to get one of these awesome shirts!!!

For the dog lovers that are attending the show, we'll have information and petitions to sign in support of "Oreo's Law". Oreo was a 12 month old dog that was severely beaten and thrown off a six story Brooklyn rooftop. Miraculously, Oreo survived with two broken legs and a bunch of broken ribs. She was nursed back to health by the ASPCA and her abuser was prosecuted. As she recovered, Oreo began to show aggression and the ASPCA slated her for euthanasia. Before she was killed, a rescue group experienced with aggressive dogs offered to take Oreo and give her a safe home for the rest of her life at no cost. The ASPCA refused and killed her anyway. "Oreo's Law" is a bill in the NY State legislature that would require shelters to turn over animals instead of killing them to 501(c)(3) rescue organizations that are willing to take them. "Oreos Law" will save the lives of thousands of animals. Come out and sign some letters asking the NY state legislature to pass "Oreo's Law"!!!

    Oreo shortly before being killed.

Thank you and I'll see you at the show!!!

Ok I see Adam, White plains gets the cool shirts. I feel like a stepchild. LOL
    "just joking"
Scott Smith All Animal Expo will have a table set up for Adam and the National Pet Association. We all need to do our part to stop things like Hr669, S373. If you are going to be at our show stop by and ask what you can do to help save our pets.

Wow . . . From nothing representing threats to our hobby to two tables! Awesome, Adam!

I'll be at White Plains all day tomorrow, though I'll be spending part of that time at the table CK's running for USArk. Will definitely stop by and participate at NatPet's table as well!

Adam, if these shirts are available, I can meet up with you and take the packages to the UPS depot in Baltimore. If you have a UPS account, I can do the leg work for you.

    Take Care!

Adam, I also would like to purchase a shirt - can you provide information to people as to where they can purchase one if they don't live close enough to attend these shows? Will shirts be available at Repticon Atlanta next week at the table that will be there?

    Hi Robin,

Unfortunately, we won't be able to get them out to the Repticon folks in time for the Atlanta show, but ..... :)

The shirts will be available online hopefully by Wednesday at www.natpet.org. We're not selling them, but they are free with a donation to NatPET of $20 or more. All proceeds go to The National Pet Association and in part will help fund the projects that we are launching this year, including:

    - NatPET Food Pantry - A program to help pet owners all over the country that are struggling financially during this horrible economic crisis and need help with a bag of dog food, cat litter, etc.

    - NatPET Tracs - An interactive educational program that teaches responsible pet ownership to 3rd - 5th graders in schools, summer camps, and at scouting programs.

    - The Florida ROC Project - A program to educate Florida reptile owners about the importance of Floridas reptiles of concern permit and to provide incentives to people that own reptiles of concern that don't have their permit to become compliant with the law for the sake of the hobby and industry. The Florida ROC Project also provides information about how Florida reptile of concern owners can safely and legally find new homes for unwanted animals.

And of course, a large portion of the money raised will help us continue the work we are doing every week in Washington DC to ensure that responsible pet owners are not unfairly punished by unreasonable federal legislation.

    Re: White Plains Show/Cool Shirts!!!
Thanks Adam! So should we wait until Wednesday to make a donation if we want to get a shirt?

I LOVE the NatPET Food Pantry idea. I remember when you told me about it, and I'm glad to see it moving forward!

What shirt sizes will you have available and are they only available in gray? I don't mind gray, but figured other people might be wondering, so thought I'd ask!

    Re: White Plains Show/Cool Shirts!!!
Definitely wait for the shirt link to go up so that we can track donations made for shirts vs. general donations. Some of our small mammal owners probably wouldn't appreciate getting a "snake shirt" in the mail, so there will be a separate link to get the shirt. :)

We have Small-4XL and they'll be selectable when the site goes up via a drop down. The page will look like a shopping cart, but it's technically a donation not a purchase.

For the first run, they're only available in gray. We'll see what happens once we're ready for a new order. :)

The Pet Food Pantry is Kellys pet project ... she's rocking it out!

    Thanks Robin!

    Awesome shirts Adam!

Please post more info about this NatPET Tracs program. Do you need help with it? Combining kids & animals is totally my kind of thing.
