    Circle of life stuff ;-)
    Hi,

Cora (my little 2006 girl ) laid her clutch of eggs today 33 days after her pre-lay shed.

This is the first snake I have bred who then went on to breed herself - kind of a hippy moment.

She locked up with her father (my normal male ) and my lesser male - the lesser was the last lock so fingers crossed. :please:

    http://img683.imageshack.us/img683/1...010clutch1.jpg

She laid 5 eggs and one slug - but egg number one might also be infertile as I couldn't see any veins when I candled it earlier. The eggs weighed 439g and, after laying Cora only weighs 1033g.

    http://img683.imageshack.us/img683/2...010clutch2.jpg

The eggs are in the incubator and Cora and the tub have been cleaned and I may try her with an F/T mouse later.

That's what it's all about. So many people get blinded by possible $$$$ that they forget about why this is such a cool hobby.

    Hi,

    Thanks folks. :)

She just ate an adult mouse F/T as her first meal since 13th September 2009.

Once I know her digestion has kicked in and is working ok I'll offer her something a bit more substantial and start getting the weight back on the skinny lil gal. :gj:

Wow Derek! Congrats! If I read that correctly, this is a girl you hatched out yourself, and now she is all grown up and having her own babies! That's awesome! For some reason I thought your first breeding was within the past few years since I joined this site.

If I misinterpreted that, don't blame me... there's more than one way to interpret this:

Thats the only reason i do this. I love having that bottomless stomach during incubation to see if i uncovered that new morph. Very exciting and nerve wrecking at the same time.

Yes she came from an accidental breeding of my normal male (Herman ) and Natasha in 2006.

She is the hatchling in the second pic of the first post in this thread.

She was the only female out of the three hatchlings and the only one I ended up keeping.

    Thanks, :D

But this is the end of my season not the start - my girls can't seem to get a grip of reading the calendar.

I candled them all and egg number one is butter yellow and empty of all veins so far - but it is in the incubator anyway until I lose all hope. :please:

    http://img684.imageshack.us/img684/6...1stcandlia.jpg

The other 4 eggs have nice healthy veins though. :gj:

    Hi,

I have the ugliest most basic incubator known to man.

Insulated fishtank 1/3 full of water with an aquarium heater in it and a suspended grating I put open boxes on. And a lid siliconed together out of pieces of styrofoam.

I put lids on just before they are due to hatch.

    https://ball-pythons.net/gallery/fil...03adjusted.JPG

It looks like ass and paranoia makes me replace parts every year and watch the temps like a hawk. I have been planning on replacing it for more years than I can count and somehow never get round to it.

    Heh heh,

    I am tempted I won't deny it. :P

But I still have 10 babies to sell from the last two clutches and I am trying to avoid filling the livingroom with snakeracks.

If I have a female lesser in there she will be a keeper for sure ( I have BEL fever :rolleye2: ) - and if it is three males I will probably try and trade for an unrelated female.

I do have to appologise to my male lesser for calling his manhood into question on no less than two continents.
