OMG I'm Engaged!!!!!

Oh my gosh I'm elated! We had a benefit for my boyfriend, (now fiancé!!!!), to help raise money to pay some bills because he has testicular cancer. He is finishing up his last day of chemotherapy this coming Tuesday! So anyway, we were enjoying the night, taking pictures, and the next thing you know he's down on his knee with a ring! I cried like a baby, it was ridiculous :rofl:

I like it because it looks like a stirrup :D It's made like that so it doesn't twist around. It's VERY heavy, it feels like I'm wearing a weight!

Everyone asks if I had any idea and if I picked out the ring. The answer is yes and yes. Tomorrow is our four year anniversary and I had a feeling it would be sometime soon :P As for the ring itself, I went to at least a dozen jewelery stores before I found this one. I was very particular about what I wanted! I was going to have 6 more stones put on the sides, but we obviously don't have the money for that sort of thing right now. Now that I have it, I really like the simplicity of it and I'm not so sure I want the other stones put in. It was supposed to be a princess cut stone :rolleyes: but we're going to upgrade the size eventually and I'll be sure to get my princess cut then.

I forgot to say, the wedding is June 2012. I wanted to have plenty of time to be done with school and well on my feet. I'm not taking out a loan to have a wedding! Plus it's not going to be an extravagant wedding, I'm not really into that. There will be horses at our wedding for sure so it will have to be in some sort of arena :P

I'll get it sent to you here in a few minutes! I still need to send an email to all the family that wasn't there! I told you guys before my extended family! :P

He's doing really well. I'm glad he only has one treatment left. It was getting really hard on him. He was pretty sick from his long week (5 days, 8 hours a day) but he was starting to get better on Wednesday. He was really tired, but made it through the whole benefit!

Thank you! I LOVE that style too! You don't see it very often, but I think it's absolutely stunning! I don't like rings with the diamond sticking clear up, and dealing with horses makes a huge ring really scary! It sticks up a little more than I would like, but I'll have to compromise because I don't want a smaller stone :D

It was a happy ending! I was so happy. It's been such a long and grueling three months. I'm so happy it's over! Thank you very much! You're so sweet :D

Congrats! Marriage is freaking awesome, nuts to what anyone else tells you. :gj:

That is a killer ring--I like simple styles and I haven't seen many that I like as much as that one. I proposed to my wife with a 'family' ring and she later picked out a setting. The woman's gotta pick out the ring somehow!

BTW, my parents rode away from their wedding on horses. They met/got married in Death Valley, so a location-type wedding might be an option for ya...

Take it from someone that has been married for more than 25 years, it's the best choice you can make. Having someone there 24/7 to discuss your concerns, your pleasures, and your future.

Just remember one thing, don't go to bed mad. It sounds so simple, but it's the key to a healthy marriage.

Enjoy this time, because the closer to the wedding, the more stressful it will become. Just tell your guy to agree to everything, just nod yes with every choice. That's the key to a successful engagement.

Great advice! :rofl: My mom has been spending a lot of time with us helping out with appointments and taking care of the house and she can't believe the way we fight. She says we bicker for 5 minutes and when we talk 5-10 minutes later it's like we were never fighting. We do bicker a lot, but we also get over it pretty quick. I like to cause problems sometimes, but so does he :D Blake's pretty good about not letting me go to bed mad, he must have spoken with you already! I'm so glad to hear you've been married for 25 years! :gj:

It has been tough that's for sure! Luckily it's almost all over with. It is nice to look back and see what we've been through already. A gal at work was trying to tell me it's going to be hard, and that I have no idea what it's like to be married. Um....well, we've been together for four years, we own a house, we pay bills together, we've gone through all this......I'm pretty sure we have idea of what it will be like. That "advice" came from a lady who got knocked up so her husband would stay with her. She's always trying to give me relationship advice :rolleyes: I'm glad people on here have faith in me! :rofl:
