Re: Gray normal or ghost?
In my opinion, it looks closer to an Axanthic rather than a Ghost. Axanthic pretty much means "lack of yellow", if you didn't know.
That would be a big win if it was Axanthic. How much did you pay for the snake?
Re: Gray normal or ghost?
Yea I guess your right does look like one. I didnt know it means lack of yellow. I think I paid 100 for her and her entire set up. gotta love Craigslist. shes about ~1200grams. only down side is she has some retained eye caps and possible mites :'( but both are in the process of being fixed.
Re: Gray normal or ghost?
I agree, looks more axanthic. Female.. nice...
Is is captive born, wild caught or ...???
Re: Gray normal or ghost?
Captive bred, bought a reptile store, scales 'n tails. well the lady I got it from got it there. I dont trust them though. the store, i trust the lady I bought her from. but either way she is the sweetest thing in the world, loves to be out of her cage more than anything.
Re: Gray normal or ghost?
I agree with it possibly being Axanthic.
Re: Gray normal or ghost?
the first thing I thought when I saw her was Axanthic too. If anything....breed her with another Axanthic and you should have some great looking babies.

The only problem with that is there is no way to know which of the different lines of Axanthic to breed it to...They are not all compatible.
Re: Gray normal or ghost?
Funny thing is, I just got her to try my hand at breeding before I went all out. haha. next onmy list is a 0.1 100% het pied. but I didnt want to kill several thousand possible dollers worth of babies b/c I did somthing wrong. and trying to talk my wife into letting me get more haha. trying to get my hands on a rack as we speak.
Re: Gray normal or ghost?
Just breed her to anything really, and then breed the babies back to her and see what you get. If she is Axanthic, she'll make hets.

Wow...I never knew that. Super new at this and still a dorko when it comes to genetics. In fact my hubby bought me a book and I have yet to start the genetics chapters. I am a little intimidated by it....lol

lol don't i know :(
To the OP: breed her at some point, and see if any of the babies look like her. If they don't, keep a male and breed him back to her when he gets up to size. Im not seeing definitive axanthic (i see yellow, especially in her tail) and i'm not seeing a whole lot to lead me to hypo, but she looks like a great dinker project.
Re: Gray normal or ghost?
Doesnt look like an axanthic to me, they are usually brown by the time they get that size ;)
It could be a horrific looking ghost, or a super light burgundy?

Yea im looking for a male right now, but seems no one has one with a set up (I have yet to get a rack) for anything less then like $200
