    Loves Water?
Ok guy/gals well I'm back again. Btw my pastel is doing great, feeding day is today actually and he is getting up to mice hoppers.
Anyways. So I just got a female Spider about 2 days ago. She is in quarantine in a cabnet (kinda) with lamp. Setup:
    6 qt Tub
    Hot - 90-94
    Cool - 77-79
    Humidity - 50-60%
During the day she is in her hide and chills but at night when i go to check the temps she is lying on her water bowl. Only like her upper section not her whole body. Yesterday when I went to check her out and see what's up she dove in to the water (1/4 of body including head) and stayed there til I pulled her out. Just changed the paper towels and there are no signs on mites on her or in the tub or the water bowl. Temps are measured by an Accurite.
This only happens around night time. Puts her nose up the the holes in the tub to. Is she just curious and getting used to her stuff and maybe just likes water??
Possible things I thought of are:
    Mites (no signs)
Shedding (doesn't seem to be darker than when I got her)
    Thanks in advance.

Ball pythons really aren't soakers so it's odd that she would spend a fair amount of time in water. I would probably order some PAM just to be safe. It's never a bad thing to have lying around. http://www.pro-products.com/

I was thinking about it and saw PAM was the favorite. If I do spray her for mites does she need to stay in quarantine for the second spray in the 30 days following the first spray?
And it's weird cuz it's only the her upper 1/4. Temps were in the 94-95 range before so I lowered them to 88-90 today to see if they helped any.

I keep all of mine in quarantine for 60 days regardless. Since there is a chance yours has mites I'd do another 30 days to play it safe.

Lowering the temps might stop her from soaking, 94-95 is a bit hot for bps.

See what happens over the next few days and if she continues to soak get some PAM.

RBI small hides. She is 104 grams and fits fine in them.

Someone just caught this on the warm side but I just wanted to say bring your cool side up to like 80-82 and your warm down to 91-93.

Make sure you have 2 tight fitting low hides.

He will cruize around a new area to check out the ways to escape and in some cases if you have a weird one like I do...to see you.

I agree with everyone.....clean the enclosure with Pam...FOLLOW THE DIRECTIONS CAREFULLY. Sometimes you cannot see them until they get bad...kind of like fleas on dogs. When you see them....its bad!!

When you are measuring the temps be sure to get something reliable with a probe. I use an acurite ....from wally world or lowes...$12-.

I also just wanted to say...it might be that he is just not comfy yet....maybe the hot is too hot and the cool is too cool for him. I have a baby that after you handle her and put her back in the enclosure. She washes off....seriously everytime. lol She is such a brat

It's a tub setup. So 1 hide on the hot side and the water bowl and Accurite on the cool side. I dropped the temps lower and like always she is chilling in the hot hide during the day. Going to see if she is in the water at night. If she is doing this for the next couple of days I'll order the PAM.

I have 10 BP's in 2 identical racks, with identical setups and have 1 Bumblebee that will sit in the water bowl for a day at a time. I wouldn't go crazy worrying about why. Mine eats once a week like clockwork. As long as yours is eating and is shedding properly, and isn't more moody than normal I wouldn't worry too much about it. Yours might just like the water.

Some of my snakes like to soak occasionally--much more often when going into shed than other times, but they do. Others don't go in the water at all. They're all different.
Check for mites, but if there aren't any, no worries.

Turned down the temps a bit and she has been in her hide all day today so I think she is finnally calming down and getting used to it.
Feeding day is scheduled for the 21st b/c I just got her in and want her to settle in before I feed and that is the next feeding day for the rest of my guys.
Thanks everyone. I think I'm gonna give it a few more days to PAM her cage.

Still in the hide. No more soaking. Looks like she is settling in and doing ok.

I have a spider that has been in her water non stop for about 4-5 days. I just got her and 3 others from the same person about 2 weeks ago. I dont see any mites. The other 3 arent soaking at all. I dont see any signs of her going into a shed yet. Should I be worried?
