Thank you!!
I had purchased a Ball python a year ago without any knowledge on how to care for it! reading what you guys had to say really helped :D his tank was 1 heat lamp with aspen bedding and a water dish with a log, now that I have read about them from this forum I have learned what to give him! and this is what it looks like now

Re: Thank you!!
Looks good but i would definantly cover the back and sides of your cage if your going to use the half logs so he feels more secure

Ditto, those half logs may seem like they do the job, but thats only because they have nothing else to hide in!

Re: Thank you!!
looks good. are those the temp probes hanging on the back of the tank? if you you want to check your temps on the ground where the snake is not the air around him as much. also might have a bit too much substrate for the heat to get to bp.

you have a thermostat and thermometer for the heat pad right? cuz very warm to us can be very hot for them

Re: Thank you!!
very warm like hot cause it should be between 90 and 94 which wont be very warm to you cause your body temp is 98.6 do you have your uth regulated with a thermostat or dimmer.

it is not hot its a little below warm, I worried about it being too hot so I just put a stack of polished glass ontop of it,
and the bottom is kind of hallow, so the heating pad is not directly onto the glass anyways

Re: Thank you!!
do you have a thermometer or thermostat on it at all

Re: Thank you!!
Umm.. should I be concerned, my snake is digging.. is that normal, he never did that with the aspen bedding,:confused::confused:

Re: Thank you!!
sometimes they burrow to find warmth. or maybe hes trying to get hidden a little better. eitherway i think you should get a temp gun to properly check the temps where his hot spot is! i have the first one on that page and it is amazing!!!

Re: Thank you!!
Ok I added a background *crumpled up packing paper* and I'll purchase a heating therm tonight :) this is how it looks now with a background, please more advice if you see something wrong!:salute:http://img9.imageshack.us/img9/6200/dsc08437x.jpg

Re: Thank you!!
look at that pic it looks lots better, but youll wanna but a thermostat on that pretty quick, now i can see how thick you have that bedding and if its warm at the top at the bottom its gotta be HOT and with him burrowing he could reach a spot to hot and get burned.

Re: Thank you!!
Thank you, I'll unplug the pad till it arrives in the mail!

Re: Thank you!!
glad to see you are doing what is right it looks alot better he will like those half logs more now they are much darker. But definantly keep your uth off until you get your thermostat. Once you get it you will have to take out some of your bedding to get the heat to him. Just make sure you have the temps right before you do everything
