What a terrible feeder, you must send her to me! I will teach her how to eat properly! LOL. Most all of mine are on F/T, and I think that they get lazy in the way they feed because they know they can. Just the other day my big normal girl( who usually strikes like a freight train) decided I don't have to strike I am just going to politely take it from the tongs and swallow. Made me laugh, here I am waiting for the strike and she just slides up nice and polite opens up and starts to swallow. She could be ready to go off food for a spell as she has been breeding my Mojave boy for a while now. She is usually the one 1/2 out of her tub jaws a flyin' while I am getting her rat in the tongs!

If that was a live rat I imagine he would have had a coil around it very quickly. I have a male spider who only eats live and he's had a few sloppy strikes but got them coiled before the rat had a chance to do anything...I think the lack of movement with f/t eaters makes them a little lazy...:)

i have seen mine grab live prey in some very strange ways but always will keep coiling till they get them covered. a couple times they have let go and restruck its nature at its best noone defrost rats for them in the wild

Exactly...here's a pic of a young female spider who grabbed a mouse by the tail and kept coiling until she had the mouse wrapped up. You can see the end of the mouses tail sticking out her mouth on the right side. :D
