not sure what we are naming him I was thinking Tatsuo its Jap. for dragon man, far-reaching man, Imperial man.

he is a great little snake he loves to cuddle. he will let you hold him for hours

right now I have him in a 20gal tanks plan to move him up to a 40 gal breeder tank. right now i have him on back heat cause Im seem to have lost my new UTH in my house. he is on aspen bedding not sure if i will stick to that cause the humidity seems to drop to low for him. but i did soak it pretty good.

so what do you think about him??

    Uh-oh. It doesn't stop at just one! :D I don't think you've realized what you've done. :O

He looks great! Congrats on the pick up! I like his coloring. I'm not sure if it's the lighting, but it almost looks kinda mocha like

I would keep him in the 20 if he's eating ok for you--if not, you may need to move him down to a 10, or a small plastic tub. Definitely save the 40 until he's fully grown, (if you use it at all).
Take care that the bedding is not wet--wet substrate allows rapid growth of bacteria, and quickly leads to dangerous skin infections. It is a challenge to raise the humidity while keeping the substrate dry, but that is what they need. Consider a cage humidifier, or seal most of the screen top with plastic wrap.

When was he born? I two that were both born in 08/09. One I got in Oct and one I got in Dec. My male I got in Oct has been pounding mice since and he was 177g last time I weighed him a couple weeks ago and my new female is 95g...both born the same month (although I think my female is a little small)

Congrats on the new pick up! I got my first in Oct and I am already up to 3!! Be prepared for the addiction!

When did you get him? He was probably only a few weeks old if you bought him from a pet store.

If he is 96g please do not move him to a 40g breeder. Even a 20g long is too big for that little snake!

Very pretty little one though :)

Very pretty! The numbers mean male.female.unknown. So 2.4.3 would be 2 males, 4 females, 3 unknown gender. Most people just post male.female

Corns and ball pythons are completely different in their care. While a cornsnake will do great in a 40 gallon, a ball python as small as yours will feel overwhelmed in such a large enclosure.

By the time he gets that big (a couple of years) you may have become a tub convert! ;)

LOL... :8: You'd be surprised - the man will probably come around, and want his OWN snake in a few months!

Nice looking baby, btw, and I think his weight looks healthy enough for now. Age doesn't mean much at this point, since they all grow at different rates... for example I have three boys born in July '09, and they currently weigh around 340, 450 & 620g respectively. Quite a difference! So as long as they don't look underweight for their length, I wouldn't worry about the age vs actual weight.
