Doesn't really matter which one you get.

Your going to be controlling it with a thermostat right?

You ought to check out www.reptilebasics.com

You can get ALL the heat you need for a FRACTION of the cost of those other heaters.

I sold the Rainforest and the Desert to Theresa, here on BP. She returned the Rainforest because it would not get hot enough. You can see they are different watts. But the rainforest just did not get anywhere hot enough. She has several of the deserts and loves them.

Just as Lynn said I bought the rainforest and it wouldn't heat the tub or substrate past 85. I do have 4 of the desert and the work very well I do also have zoo med and they work well also. As for using one with a thermostat if it doesn't get hot enough the thermostat will not make it any hotter as they don't get that hot.

    Astral,

I wouldnt worry about heat from the top, you need an undertank heat pad, in reality any heat from above does not help with digestion etc, plus in the hide the temperature will be even less since the heat from above cannot get thru the hide as well, I have also found that light heat sources overall dry out the area rapidly no matter what you do. I would supply the heat from below personally.
