    Weird behavior?
Alright, so I was in the other room getting my ball python's food and when I went back in I found him fully in his water bowl rolling around. Once I stood infront of his tub he stopped and just stared at me for a little and then put his head under the water completely and started doing it again, which freaked me out so I picked him up out of the bowl and he seemed completely fine after that (he even ate 20 mins later). His temps are also right and his humidity is 58% (measured by an acu-rite digital thermometer).

If any of you guys know why he had that weird moment or what it could of been would be awesome because it kinda freaked me out and I don't want anything to be wrong with him.

Switch his bedding to paper towel for a while to see if you notice and mites.

If you have Provent a Mite on hand id treat the cage with that as well just encase

I haven't noticed any on him or in his water bowl, but I'll make sure to keep an eye out for them. I don't have any provent-a-mite on me right now, but if I see any I'll make sure to get it as soon as possible. Do you guys know the best place/cheapest to order provent-a-mite?

I know that provent-a-mite will kill everything in the enclosure, but if he ended up having mites, what would I use to treat the mites that are directly on him? Or would prevent-a-mite also kill those too?

Could he just be getting ready to shed??? I have one that will do that....as well as after you handle her....she will go "rinse off" when you put her back in her cage. She is such a brat...

PAM will kill all stages of the mites that are on him. It will last for 30 days in a small dusty residue in his cage that the mites will come in contact with and will die from this.

Just spray the cage down, before spraying the cage besure to remove the snake and water bowl and wait about 1 min to air it out. Return the snake when you feel comfortable, but wait 1 hr to return the water.

i usually wait an hour for the PAM to dry before placing the snake back in the enclosure.

This is the first time I have ever seen him fully in his water bowl so I'm not sure if he might be doing it in order to get ready for his shed cycle or not. He is about five months old and his last shed was on November 26 so I suppose it could be what you were talking about.
I picked him up today to see if I could tell if he had anything on him that looked abnormal, but to me, I didn't see anything that looked like a mite (could just be my untrained eye). I also haven't seen anything in his water bowl or substrate, but I'll continue to keep an eye out for anything.

IF you get PAM, follow the directions on the can EXACTLY. they are very simple but very important.

Ive kept snakes out as long as an hour and a half, or put them in their treated enclosures with as little as 15 minutes after treatment application with no ill effects. you just need to wait until the spray dries and is no longer liquid.
