Which one? (Narrowed it down a little)

Hey, I have been thinking and I have narrowed it down to 3 options, I will make a poll and then we can see what people think is the best option.

Im in no rush to breed but I want something that in 3 years will be wanted if that makes sense. Not that we can see into the future.

I only have a young normal female at the moment.

I am thinking of getting either

Choice 1 - A yellow belly female. Growing her up for a year, then getting a yellowbelly male and breeding for Ivories.

Choice 2 - Getting a pair of het clowns, growing them up and seeing if I can get a clown. Clowns are one of my fav morphs.

Choice 3 - Getting a pair of het Pieds, Growning them up and breeding them to see if i can get a pied.

Choice 4 - Get a cheaper female visual morph like a pastel, pinstripe, spider or mojo.

Also if you could give a reason as to why you would do it, that would be great.

All these options are of personal likes. I don't have an ivory or clown...was split between the 2 but the YBs won due to the fact that later on you will get more morphs and YBs really add a lot when mixed into other morphs.

Oh yeah thats a point. With the hets (clown and pied) it really stops after you have the morph you want. With the YB you can mix things up more I guess.

Each morph can mix equally well - pumkin pied anyone?

it's no more true to say the YB stops with the ivory than it is to say the pied stops with the visual pied. :)

I say spend a week looking at morph pictures and buy the one that makes you dribble on your shoes. :gj:

I meant like instantly. I would have to see if I even got 1 clown/pied and then grow them up for another 3 years, and then go from there.

I am leaning towards the YBs at the moment, but I also like the idea of buying a morph and instantly having one

I'm not a fan of het x het pairings because the normals are 66% possible het and I hate uncertainty. If you really like the clown you could get a het female now and save/find a way to get a visual later. You could do the same with a piebald, they are quite a bit cheaper on average, but it might be worth it to get what you favor. I chose option #4 because I like the crosses and supers of all those more than yellowbellies/ivories.

I Agree. I want a pied but I don't want to end up with a bunch of poss hets so I'm going to wait until I can buy a pied outright so I don't have to deal with chance. If you want to have any chance of selling any of the snakes you produce go for a codom/dom because it's almost impossible for a newb to sell hets. I also like some of the other white snakes better than ivories and the non-super versions are cooler IMO than yellowbellies.

I went with het clowns because you wrote something important clowns are one of your fav's.;)

I voted 4 because I love basic morphs like spiders, pins, pastels, and so forth. But like Emilio said if clowns are your favorite go with them.

Clowns are one of my favs, but I also love pieds, ivories and cheaper morphs. Its trying to figure out which one will be best.

Looks like pieds are winning in the vote off, and I am leaning that way. Pieds are a great morph.

i went with the het clowns because first you said clowns are your favs and second you said you want something that ppl will want in the future and in my opinion i think there is lots to come with the clown morphs. hey you might get lucky the first time you breed them and get some clowns.

I would say get a visual morph. Thats what I did. I already had a normal male so I went with a 0.1 Pastel for my first morph, plus my friend has a 1.0 Pastel so we are already set for supers :) My next morph will most likely be a 1.0 mojave cause I love the pastaves!

There are 100% hets too. They come from any pairing that has a visual piebald.

go for het clown since u say clown is one of ur fav..

I don't understand the overwhelming popularity of pieds.

They're nice, but they're certainly not "the best" by any regards to my eye.

Get a visual female and a visual male for the snake after the female, and try to hit on a combo.

Either that or go for clowns since you like 'em. Clowns are just about my favorite recessive :D

I would rather save some money up and buy the visual morph. 0.1 Pieds (low white but still) goes around for 800 - 1000 US, and buy a co-dom male that hasn't been used that much. Create some morph 'x' het-pied and breed it back to the 0.1 pied. It will save you a lot of time. :)

Spotnose, vanilla, spector or something that hasn't been mixed into pieds or clowns - there's a good project.

They're a bit overated compared to other morphs.

Clowns & pied open the door for tons of combinations..go for either through hets or both would be even better :)
