    Craigslist Lemon Pastel
Saw an ad for a lemon pastel, says it is Bell line male 900 grams for $100. Is this a good price? E-mailed the person, no pictures, no paperwork saying it is Bell line. As I am fairly new, wondering if you think this is worth going to look at? I am assuming that without paperwork, the claim to Bell line is pretty much worthless right?

Yah that's a great price for a breeder sized male but it is pretty sketchy just because it's from CL. Prices are pretty similar for all the different lines, so not knowing the line for sure I don't think would really effect what you could ask for the offspring.

Don't do it, that is a scam in one way or another. That snake is not worth $100, its worth at least $300 and the fact that he is selling it for that little just mean something is wrong. Whether it be a birth defect, or hes unbreedable, or he only eats teddy bear hamsters, etc. Don't do it and just wait untill you can go a close expo and find the exact one that you want.

I thought it sounded kind of fishy when he said he had no pics. I got a male pastel off of craigslist a while back for $75. Not a bad animal, but was infested with mites. Thanks to PAM I got that under control, but I learned my lesson the hard way about "craigslist deals" LOL. I admit this ad intrigued me, so I responded just to see. But you are right, there is probably something wrong. The other odd thing was that he said "he's a great eater, just ate a rat a few days ago, and has one in him right now?" What the heck? How often is he feeding that snake?

Just thought it was worth giving you a heads up and clue to where it went if this thread suddenly isn't on the normal boards. :gj:

I found a female mojave around feb of this year for 125.00 and a male mojave from the same person for 75.00 off of C.L. Still have the female and sold the male. female is breeding to my lesser right now. she's almost 1600 grams and is still feeding. so you can find deals on C.L. but what most of the members here are saying is to be careful. You posted that you are new at this. so be very careful. in my area 100 for a breeding size male pastel is a good deal not an amazing deal. breeders are dumping their breeding size males and replacing them with supers. if you get a proven male it will be a little more.

The ad sounds a bit fishy, but the price is not all that bad. I have a proven breeder Pastel that I have brought to numerous shows and priced at $150, and have not even had an inquiry. Adult Pastels just aren't selling for that much above babies these days.

p.s. Nixer hit it on the head. Lemon Pastels are NERD line animals. Bell Pastels have been that for years. The only way an animal could be called a Bell Lemon is if it was the product of a Bell Pastel bred to a Lemon Pastel. However, the offspring of that breeding would still be one or the other. If it had both lines in the offspring, then it would be a Super Pastel.

    Just my .02,

I got my pastel as a proven breeder and a very stunning animal to top it off for $150. I have one of the babies that he sired also, who is again, a stunning animal. Not to mention, he has been a great feeder and is breeding three females as we speak. So it is not impossible to get a good animal at a good price. Go check it out, what do you have to loose?
