Even jack hanna thinks these animals could survive in south carolina. I thought he had a bit more common sense when it came to these animals.

I love how they mention the toddler that was killed while talking about wild Burmese in Florida. No mention of how it was a pet that killed the girl. This is like blaming the wolves for all the dog related injuries. At the end of the day it boils down to misplaced priorities. Something humans are really really good at. Lets freak out about snakes and not look at the threat compared to crossing the road, Carbon Monoxide poisoning, eating peanut butter, the seasonal flu. I for one try to keep things in perspective. I live in Northern New York State. You would be surprised how many people get worried when I tell them there are venomous snakes native to our state. As soon as I tell them that timber rattlesnakes have been seen in the wild in Lake George (not far from where I live), they freak out. I will never understand how knowledge of an insignificant threat is such a big deal for people. The hand full of snakes that are in the region have been around for years. Most people will never see one or know anyone who has seen one. Yet some people have crippling fear where others merely learn something new.

I can't believe he's supporting that bill! Wow, I'm going to be fuming about this all day.

There's so many wrong things in that news clip. Mainly the meat head in the tie reporting for fox. :rage:

Poor, misrepresented information on FoxNews? How strange. It's nice to see they found something to talk about other than ACORN though.

Jeb Bush probably had the snake assassination set up to help strengthen the case for this bill. How does a snake large enough to think it can eat a kid sneak into your nursery? His brother killed 3,000+ New Yorkers to start his war, so I don't think this one little girl is out of the question. Michael Moore might be interested in this story.

Hahaha, I can't believe I typed that. Oh well, it was fun.

    Wow,

Sad to say the main points I got from that was that he doesn't want it to affect him and any other zoos. Didn't get a whole lot of concern shown for anyone who isn't a zoo. :(

And what was the wisdom of repeating the false and idiotic fears on a news broadcast without actually debunking them!?!?

The interviewer did say it was on short notice so I can only hope they simply caught him off gaurd and didn't give him time to marshal his arguments. :(

I agree. Watching this really hurt, seeing as I used to enjoy Jack's show when I was a child. I'd figure he'd understand a bit more about suitable habitat for these animals in the wild, as well as the extreme unlikelihood of any tourist actually being hurt by one while on vacation. He was actually down close by where I am at Sea World Orlando a week or two ago for some annual event he does, and I could have even had a ticket... Unfortunately I wasn't informed about that until the end of that same day. I would have liked to have gone and talked to him about our side on this issue too. Now that I've seen this, it's really too bad I wasn't able to. :(
