I have holes everywhere; don't be afraid to experiment to find out what works for you. They don't really effect temps as much as they do humidity. If you have too many holes and your humidity is to low you can always tape up the excess holes with some painters tape.

That seems good for a start. You won't know until you actually have everything running. If your humidity is good then you're done; if its not you may need to add or remove(tape up) some holes.

You really won't know until you get it heated up and put the water bowl in. And then even after you add the snake things may change. I started with a row on both sides and then got it to the correct temp with the water bowl inside. And then added additional rows of holes until I got it right.

Yup those are acceptable temps and humidity ranges.

    Hi,

Have you checked the rheostat on a normal lightbulb? Sometimes they work the opposite way round from what you expect.

    Hi,

I'd probably leave as is until I saw how the substrate changed things.

Yeah i know when you put substrat in it will change... but if there move the substrat and expose the bottom of the tub its gonna be HOT ... so im thinking should i put them in or wait a month or two and order a helix in the mail... cause im in canada and cant find no one to sell them here

    Hi,

    I think you misunderstood me.

I meant put the substrate in and see what the temps are at the surface of it with those current settings.

95-96f is pretty much where you want the surface of the tub under the substrate to be ( 94-95f would be ideal ) - you then adjust the type/ depth of substrate to give a reading of 92-94f on the surface of the substrate inside the warm end hide.

I'm going by the temp range you quoted earlier that this is for a ball python - but correct me if it isn't.

I have been told bean farm ship to Canada and we have a few Canadian members that could probably tell you where to buy thermostats if you throw up a thread. :)

It would be a lot easier if you ordered the thermostat before you put the animal in as there is always a lot of adjusting to do when you first install any control system.

How many slots are in the rack? - and remember you will need to put the probe for the thermostat on the heating element but outside the tub to prevent the snake from messing with it. :)

Or did you plan to use an empty tub for the probe?

    Hi,

I did a quick search and these three threads all talk about places to buy equipment and food in canada.

    Thread 1.

    Thread 2.

    Thread 3.
