Local News covering S373

Hi everyone,
Last night I emailed my local new stations, and I received a call from a local reporter at 11:00 this morning named Jill Glavan. She said she wanted to do a story on S373 for the 6pm news today, and asked if I'd be willing to have them at my home and place of business to show how this bill would affect me and my family. I was pretty excited and let them come over to my house to do a story on the ban bill. We covered alot of what has been going on up to date about it. Pulled some of the snakes out and got alot of great footage. And hopefully brought to light in my area about what is going on with this and how it would affect hard working americans. I think more people should email their local stations so we can get more coverage with this. So this will be aired at 6pm tonight. :banana:Half the problem is the uneducation about this bill with the people around us. Also I have made a petition and have brought it pretty much everywhere i go to get more involved. Alot of people dont realize how this affects us. I just wanted to share the good news about my local staion picking this up. The more people weve got backing us the harder we fight!!!

Amazing, please try and find someway to give us a link or recording of the report, i'm very curious as to how they portray a person like yourself who respects and is responsible with pythons and such. Most of the time we are just "irresponsible people who don't know what they just bought", when that is entirely not the case.

i beleive its channel 5 wptz burlington plattsburgh vt. They were very nice. I just hope they get all the important stuff in there. The reporter talked to the prez of usark before they came so I hope it turns out well.

Thanks for your support Everyone!! I think this needed to happen! I just watched it with my family. It came out really well. I guess there are ligitimate reporters left. In my area anyways. It really brought to light what is going on. i would like to find away for eveyone to see it. I guess maybe you can go on my local staions website and see it? im not sure I had a friend in FL. say he could watch it that way. Any ways its on the Channel5 wptz station for Burlington, Plattsburgh VT station. I hope all of you can see it. I also wish they had put on how more of the public can help us fight this. But i cant get eerything I want. Im just happy that it brought this issue even 4 minuetes of media attn. Thanks again Everybody!

Awesome, just awesome piece on this problem. Not one of your snakes looked ferocious or mean and even that huge female normal you have couldn't hurt anyone and shes probably like 3700 grams.

Ive contacted every news station near greenville sc and wanting to hear back from them. Someone needs to show them anacondas, burms and retics are not man eating monsters

Someone needs to show them DWARF BURMS and DWARF RETICS--small snakes that happen to be the same species as the giants.
Nothing is going to make a giant snake look safe, no matter how many people carry it around--sorry, but it always looks kind of like wrestling a bear. <lol>

Wow, this is really spectacular. If I had more snakes maybe it'd work to contact my local news channel because I would. I hope some others could reach out like this though...I do have three Colombian boas available to me though, one 11.5', one 5', and one 2' (the 2' and 11.5' are a friend's) but sadly we don't breed them yet so I'm not sure how well it'd hold up. Denial, hope you can get something with the anacondas and larger snakes, it would be great to shed some positive light on these larger species, too, especially since they're stated in it directly.

I'm worried, though, that breeders of large constrictors are going to get shafted by all of this. They don't deserve it and this entire bill needs to be thrown out.

Again I really appreciate everyones responses! I honestly didnt think that it was goping to go this well. I was very nervous to say the least. I dont have much experiene with public speaking, so i thought i was going to butcher it,or the reporters were. But Im very very glad it turned out well. Im glad i represtened this whole community well bc that was my goal! I do really feel like it shouldnt be just the smaller breeders alone getting the media word out. There needs to be more coverage with the huge ones as well. But i really did think that showing people that these are living creatures and peoples livelihoods like so many of us. If they are going to try and take down a huge industry like this Im not going down without a fight. I also feel like this stupid bill needs to be thrown out the window. MORE needs to be done with the conservation part. More research needs to be done and we need to get that point across. If they are going to make millions of people loose their incomes I want to see scientic and proven and reproven research showing that banning these animals is the only way to go. Bc at this point they havent shown us that. Its sad that millions of people losing their way of life is acceptable to these people. I call bull (sorry it pisses me off)! I feel like there is other options. They just dont like this industry bc its different from what they would choose. But theyre not the ones getting put out of work. Great job! I wish I was able to do something like this but if some of my neighbors saw me and my collection on the news... They are up my butt when I removed bushes from my side yard. I would hate to see the reaction if they knew what was in my basement. People really need to mind their own business. Once again GREAT JOB and beautiful Ball Pythons.

great job and I got the local paper ( photo) coming tuesday to do a story locally (with the local changes they planning.) I am hopngi afterwards the local news will pick it up and also do a story. sadly I don't know of anyone loacal to be onhand tuesday to hep me with any of the issues I don't know about..
