Provent-A-Mite not available in NY??

I recently purchased PAM from Pro Products. I just received this email :

Sadly that's true.

There is no legal way to get it iirc.

The only alternative I ever saw was to order a different product. :(

Anyone know if Black Knight is legal in NYS?

I spray it on the cage and let it dry. Do not spray it on the snake... Not unlike another product that you can't get.

I honestly don't know if the fact snakes have an inbuilt spectacle offers any protection for that or not. :confused:

I still like the predatory mite idea - it seems the safest option of all.

If you know someone that does not live in NY ship it to their house if they will let you. If you know any one that goes to the Hamburg show have them pick you up a few cans.

I am not discussing getting it illegally, only trying to find alternatives. Something I can order online maybe? I just need to get rid of these mites, they have been pestering me for weeks now. I've been cleaning the cage/snake regularly with jurrasic mite stuff, but I've alyways heard about this product :(

Look into Black knight and if they will ship to you. Havent seen it in a while but might be able to get that.

I don't believe that Derek's post was directed to you, but to other posters who are suggesting ways to smuggle it in - which is a violation of our TOS.

This is why it happened... he (owner of Pro products) complained to the government that Black night was being sold as a mite spray, not as what the label said, so Black night was no longer allowed to sell it. So Black Night took revenge on him and found a reason to have his product banned. This was the word on the snake vine anyway at the White Plains show a couple years back.

So is just having it in NYS illegal....or you just cannot buy it or ship it to NYS?? And for that matter ....is it just illegal for companies to ship it?

I am just asking a question....no illegal advice here...just trying to understand the law in that state.

It has something to do with Taxes in NYS

You might be able to ship it to a friend in another state and then have them ship it to you or go pick it up when you visit.

I agree. I do not live too far from them, and still I cannot buy it. It sucks that snakes/customers have to suffer because of our own state.

POM is available in NY you just need to know where to purchase it. i will not disclose where i get mine from but it is available. And it is by far the best for preventing and getting rid of mites.

Post proof otherwise your just trolling. Its illegal for the company who makes PAM to sell to anyone in New york let alone stores to carry it and get away with it.

Wow, I find this very interesting in the fact that I picked up a couple of cans in White Plains show as recent as 2 years ago before I moved. Also NY EPA is very weird in they way they approve/deny Pesticides. State ordinances have to be at least as strict as federal but can be more strict if that state chooses. Best advice I can give is contact PAM directly and see when their patent is up, then there will be generics like in every other pesticide or chemical product for that matter. PAM has been out for a long time and I beleive the patents only last like 7-10 years.
