Re: S373 Hearing - Live Stream
Hard to listen to some of these sometimes....

What kind of stuff have they been saying? I don't have speakers at the moment! Is it not looking to bright?

Re: S373 Hearing - Live Stream
I was late to the party but havent heard any mention of snakes yet - wild hogs and asian carp so far.
And now they have adjourned - does this mean I missed the good stuff?

What's that? They don't have enough info to make a decision?
-
Re: S373 Hearing - Live Stream
This is just the subcommittee
Theres no final decision on anything
Basically they are saying that they want to do something about it.

Re: S373 Hearing - Live Stream
USARK's Twitter feed says that the USFWS wants to add all nine snakes from the USGS paper to the bill. A senator asked that they contact Sen. Nelson to see if he agrees to modify the bill to add them.

Re: S373 Hearing - Live Stream
Did they present that letter from the academic and scientific community that questioned the validity of the USGS study?

Re: S373 Hearing - Live Stream
All of the Senate EPW Committee members had a copy of the USARK/scientist letter. I spent all day Wednesday and Thursday visiting with each members staff and discussing S. 373. Each staff member received a packet of information which included talking points, my testimony on behalf of the National Pet Association, the letter from the 11 scientists to the House Subcommittee, the Pyron niche model study, and PIJACs summarized response to the USGS report release last month. I'll be following up with each staff member I spoke with tomorrow and back in DC Monday - Thursday next week for additional meetings.
The link below is the written testimony we submitted for the Senate EPW hearing today. (It's a PDF and will require Adobe Reader)
Senate EPW Testimony - 12.03.09

And thanks go to you, USARK, PIJAC, and all the others who are in D.C. fighting this on the front lines...
I wish I could have watched it but, since I am in the military, and working on base, using a government computer, and due to the firewalls in place, the government has managed to block alot of it's own websites... :weirdface

Well, that news just ruined my day completley. It seems money means more to people then science or freedom. Mankinds fear of diffrence and that which they do not understand will be our undoing.

But then, all she'd have to say is, "I'm not sure I'd be comfortable with one in my home," or something like that, and we'd be in even bigger trouble than we already are.
