so i think my female is a male...

Well today i put in my lesser with my other "female" and instantly I saw my first round of what looked like male combat. so i went to check the sex on my female, so i got the best picture i could... thats a hemi right?

I bought 2 "females" back in may 1 was proven and the other not. I won't say from who yet until I email them. I didn't know how to pop back then so I took his word for it. I've never popped a bigger snake like this, but it looks like a hemi to me. that and the big fight that broke out instantly.

also anyone thats had this happen how was it delt with?

That is one hemipene. You either didn't pop both out or it may have been prolapsed in the past and had one removed. It's more likely your finger/thumb placement just didn't 'pop' both out.

Honestly not sure. As folks said, it doesn't look quite right. But if the snakes were rearing up and twining around each other in combat, I would guess it's a male.

well it was in a 41 quart so they couldn't really rear up but to me it look like the lesser was more just running and the other kept jumping on top of him. like he was trying to slam him into the ground and walls.

It's a pene. The pink bit of flesh next to the hemipene is the anus.

You'd pucker too if someone was squeezing you like that.

IF it's the snake you bought as a girl and IF you can prove that, IF the seller is a standup guy, he'll replace or refund you to make it right.

IF not, you've got two males and incentive to never again trust that any snake is what someone else said it was until you've personally verified the accuracy of their statement.

yup well atleast I don't have to trust them now. I didn't know how to sex snakes b4.

im hoping he'll be a stand up guy, he posts on here alot, i sent him a email, aiting for his response.

Could have been an honest mistake. Lots of people sex them out of the egg and never recheck them before shipping. I actually had the same thing happen to me recently but it came out more in my favor. Bought a het male and got a het female. You will know soon enough by the way the seller responds, but I can't imagine anyone trying to scam someone over a normal female. Maybe back when they were $1000 but not now when they are only $100 on a good day.


Good lesson learned though. Check the sex the day you get a snake no matter who it comes from. Everyone can make mistakes.

I bought one off of graigslist from a guy for 10 bucks who thought he had a male got it home and probed it female. Anyway worked to my advantage. I've found probing a very easy way to determine sex on larger snakes. Smaller ones are better to pop.

well he responded back and said he would send another proven breeder female out free of charge. Im sure it was just a honest mistake. im pretty sure hes not going to want the male back so if he doesn't, I'll need to find this guy a home.

I still need to learn to probe... wish there was more snake people around here.
