    Texting/Calling
I see people on their phones all the time, every where I go. Whether it's texting or calling, I see it everyday. Most of the time I don't have any minutes on my phone, which means I can't call or text anyone, which is fine with me. I actually don't text much anymore anyway, so having no minutes doesn't bother me, but it would for sure bother other people. A few people have told me they couldn't go anywhere without their phone, nor could they even live to have no minutes, and don't know how I manage to not have minutes on my phone. I don't really like texting anymore, but calling is fine, though I don't talk on the phone much anymore.

Do you use your phone a lot (text/call) intentionally to talk, or do you only use it when you need to?

Ive always hated phones. I never wanted a cell phone when I was a teenager and I hated when I would date a girl and she would ask for my number I couldnt stand talking to them on the phone. I actually feel asleep on the phone with one girl because she wasnt talking but it would upset her if I wanted to hang up lol. I HATE when my grandmother calls me. I love the woman to DEATH but good lord she wants to talk for like an hour about the dumbest things lol.

When I need to and that fairly often but job related. Are you referring to kids or adults. I would guess that most adults, unless they just have nothing but free time (ie. no job, in which case their time should probably be spent looking for one instead of chatting on a phone), use phones for work related conversations. Now kids with phones that chat or text all the time...well that is a different story and I have an opinion on that as well. However I won't get into that lest I might offend someone. :D

I remember a while back when I didn't have a phone that I really wanted one and begged my mom. For my 12th Bday I got a phone (still have the same exact one). My sisters didn't get theirs until they were 16 and had their driver's license. I hear friends say, "I want a new phone so badly I hate mine." but I've had the same phone for over two years and I don't recall ever asking for a new phone. LOL Razrs rock anyway:gj:

Yeah whenever I have a boyfriend I hate talking on the phone, I just can't talk on the phone for a long time. It's either silent or they are talking to someone else that is actually near them. I haven't fallen asleep on the phone while talking to a boyfriend but I have fell asleep on the phone while talking to friends before LOL. I've even fallen asleep on Xbox Live while talking to friends (which happened the other night actually LOL, and that wasn't the first time it happened). And yeah, I don't like talking to family members on the phone either, they just talk about random stuff that gets really boring, and you know you wanna hang up but you don't wanna be rude LOL:8:

I have had a phone since I was a freshman in high school. I never really used it all that much. I text a decent amount. 500 per month. I don't really talk on the phone much except to my best friends and parents.

That being said, I bring my phone EVERYWHERE. I need to have it with me or else I feel naked. Not being able to be contacted kind of freaks me out. Especially when I am walking around at night...

LOL, when I woke up the next morning I had my headset on, and that made me feel like a dork so I just pushed it off the couch and tried going back to sleep. I can't help not falling asleep while talking to people when I'm in a comfortable spot. I've also fallen asleep at my house on the couch while my friends were over LOL (they are my neighbors though:D).

LOL I'm the same way, but even though I don't talk to anyone much I NEED my phone with me. I don't trust people alone with my phone, and I don't even let people see my phone. People love going through phones and looking at the messages, which is just not right. When someone lets me see their phone I don't go through their messages or pictures because I respect their privacy. Also I'm weird about having my phone at school, I never leave my backpack in the halls at lunch anymore, people are taking phones and iPods, even in the locker rooms during gym. So, I'm just not going to bring my phone to school LOL.

I always have my phone with me. I text and use the internet on it the most. I use maybe 100 minutes a month I would say.
At my last job, we were allowed to have our phones when I started, then after a year they tried to start making us keep them in our cars or give them to a manager, I quit shortly after.
It's a security blanket, I don't want a family member to have to call someone else to get ahold of me in case of an emergency.

I used to be a text-addict, but now I just don't care much for it anymore. I agree that you should have it in case of an emergency or someone trying to get ahold of you because of an emergency. That's why I always keep my phone on at school LOL, I keep it on vibrate though, never on the loudest it can be.. that's what got it taken away last year during class:P

I have my phone constantly. However, I text more than talk, although I do like to chat with people I like. Nothing wrong with talking to people on the phone. Nothing wrong with texting.

I wouldn't quit a job over having my phone, not in this economy.. but hey, not my job. My boss doesn't care, as long as I don't take time from working to be on the phone.

    Between that and work....

My business is ran off my phone and many customers call and many Text me. I have an unlimited plan due to this. Reaching over 5000 texts a month and about 3000 mins would kill me if not on unlimited.

I do text at times to catch up with old friends but other than that no time really with the snakes and computer repairs.

We all have phones here...hubby, my 9 yr old, my mom (as she lives w us) and myself.

3 of us only use it pretty much to call each other and when we are apart...I have it all the time to make sure everyone is safe. My son on the other hand..oye. We got it for him since sometimes he has to go with his bio dad and there was abuse issues previously. Now he doesnt use it to text or call but for games, music and movies. My husband got him a phone that can do everything and it is ridiculous. The child has so many current movies on that phone and thinks my husband is the coolest thing ever...lol (clearly one of the reasons he got that one for him...lol)

I have friends that call all the time though and apparently have all the time in the world to talk....its really annoying. Love them but spending an hour on the phone..not my thing.

I don't call or text much, the one person I talk to for long periods of time would happen to be my boyfriend since I can't see him very often. But if I am sitting alone in public and I get nervous I will text someone or pretend to xD

I don't text, but I usually have at least one conversation on my cell every day.

My cell is also my only phone line, no landline for me.

I also live far away from family so usually when I keep in touch, I do it with phone calls rather than snail mail or email.

while i was getting over the EX phase, i only had my phone to check the time. i would forget it at home and realize it when i start getting hungry and waiting for lunch time to start.

then i started txting a LOT. most of the ppl i talk to tend to have funky plans that dont allow me to call them whenever :rolleyes: hahaha!

anywhoozle =D. now i txt a lot. where i work, as long as the manager doesnt see u, and he rarely does, i can have my phone out and text inbetween songs.

on the weekends i just txt to find out if that person can come over and hang for the day. when she leaves, i just get on COD:MW:2 =]. then call at night to say gnite.

I rarely text. Maybe once or twice a month, if that. I don't like the world having 24 hour access to me so my phone stays shutoff for most of the day. That is why I have voice mail. I will turn my phone on 2-3 times a day to check for messages and return calls. I would say that at least 50% of the time I just leave it at home...

P.S. I can say that as a motorcylist, I can't even begin to count the number of times that I have almost been hit or ran off on to the shoulder by drivers texting and talking on the phone while driving. That should be illegal...

My cell phone is my only phone - I cut off my land line last year. I'm not a big phone talker either, but get me on the phone with another herper and start talking snakes, you can't get me off the phone! LOL

Texting - well, I didn't used to text, but some people from this very forum started texting me and I was having to pay per text, so I broke down and got a text plan as well as when I upgraded phones, got one with a qwerty keyboard. I have 1500 plan, but I don't use nearly all of them. I tend to text more, like this past weekend when we were all getting together in B'ham and checking up on where everyone was.

Hmmmmm..... Lotta people on here must be in the older generations because everyone I know, work with, or see is always texting or on the phone.

I average about 1500 texts a month, my wife averages about 2500-3000 and we use around 1400 minutes. Compared to alot of people I know, these are little numbers.

I txt more than I talk. If you think about it, talking it easier. But, I txt  My friend from Michigan hates talking, so she txts me ALOT. And she's going through a bad on again off again relationship and I seem to be the only person that can talk to her bluntly. We txt alot, I don't know exactly how many.

The only people I talk to on the phone is family and my BF. Sometimes friends call, but for the most part they txt. I HATE talking on the phone. Maybe if some people didn't talk for 20 mins straight with me only saying "Uh huh" and "Oh how funny." a couple times I wouldn't mind it much. Sometimes it seems since I'm the one that doesn't have a job, suddenly my job title is "Person to call when you need to rant and rush them off the phone when they start talking"
