    New Background
So I have been trying several different backdrops for pictures, and recently purchased a 12x12 piece of Slate for $2.14 at lowes.

I glossed it twice, let it dry for 3 days to eliminate fumes....I think I like it.

Trying several different lighting positions as well.

I like that idea:) Would putting gloss on it though make it harder to avoid glare? Just curious.....I love the idea on the stone for use.......mind if i copy lol?

    Hi,

That makes a very effective background. :gj:

Neutral enough not to distract from the snakes but intresting enough to add to the total effect of the picture. Dig the "wet look" the gloss gives it too.

    I really like that background...BUT

I'd look at adjusting the light since the surface is uneven. Direct light on a uniform reflective surface can cast reflections which are cool, but this uneven surface it will reflect light unevenly giving you random bright spots. All of which should be easily corrected by using a diffuser. Cool background!

I think it complements the colors/patterns of your ball pythons very well!

She is a bit to large for this tile. I am going to get a 16x16

One step ahead of you. Already built a light diffuser for my ring flash.

All of those were taken with a handheld ring flash.
