Hogg Island Boa or Ball python?(poll)
So for christmas im getting a cb70 rack, and im deciding what im gona buy to fill up the last tub :)

I want to get an adult ball python or hogg island boa.. and im guessing i have $150 to $200 MAX to spend. it all depends on how much i hav leftover from the rack. but in the best case scenario, should i get an adult pastel ball python, or a hogg island boa? i have a connection for the boa for 150 shipped, but not sure where im gona get the pastel for 150-200 shipped. let me know what you think i should do.

I wanted a Hogg Island for a while, but I didn't want to get it shipped to me and there was no where to pick one up around me.

I ended up getting a BP and I don't regret it.

Would I get a Hogg Island in the future? If I were to get a different species of snake, it would be a Hogg Island Boa, but i'd still stay true to my sweet lil' BP.

I voted Hog Island boa. I have a pair and they're absolutely great animals. The colour changes they go through during the course of a day are awesome. Always a surprise to pull out the bins and see if they're light, dark, or in between. :)

A Hogg beats a pastel any day. Sorry boys.

I have both and would choose the Hog over the Pastel male. However, I would not keep a Hog in a CB70. I kept my girl in one for a while and she was miserable. She constantly paced, and ended up with a nose rub that led to a mouth infection. She's doing very well now in a 4X2 Neodesha enclosure.

So.... I voted Pastel for you.

I agree with Markie J not because I have had a similar experience, but because I'm a big fan of keeping minimally stressed critters, and if his experience showed his boa was unhappy in that set-up, I'd take it to heart. But since I prefer the Hogg Island Boa over a pastel bp, I opted not to vote. :)

He's only like 4 years old, he is no where near full grown unless you find out that both his parents were that size.

I'm pretty sure that size would be fine for a Hogg. But thats just an assumption based on their general small size.

At four years old, he's probably pretty much grown. He might gain a couple of feet and a few pounds, but I wouldn't expect him to be a monster for his species. People refer to Hog Islands as dwarfs, but I've seen some pretty large Hogs.

A 4x2 enclosure should be just fine for a male.

You really can't go wrong with Hog Islands. They are beautiful animals, usually have a pretty laid back personality and they are fabulous eaters. My Hog Island is still a favorite in my collection.

    Hog Island.

Boas and ball pythons are generally cool animals but there's just something about the size of a full-grown boa that allures me.
