Yes. I wouldn't go anything larger than a 20g long tank for a year old ball python.

Ball pythons are pretty shy and secretive snakes and don't move around much. They are also terrestrial snakes which means that it wouldn't use any of that height. It would just be wasted space that you would still have to heat and cool.

We just decided to put a divider and on the side with the water bowl we'll put the BP and the other side we're going to put our cresties.

Not too blunt just perfect. I was looking for other peoples opinions so it wasn't blunt trust me! :)

I haven't had any problems with my my snakes and the size of their enclosures I have an 8 month old in a 65 gallon and plenty of hides, not much open space and he does fine, he eats weekly and uses all the space, its well heated on one side and at a stable cooler side, he hasn't shown stress at all neither have the others that i recently got my hands on, both in 40 gallon tanks, so it all depends on the snake i guess, mine have been doing great and your cage is gonna look awesome good luck :D

Looks awesome! Just fyi, if you put a ball python it will find the most inconvenient spot for you to clean to take a crap. That's my experience with them anyways lol.
