Morph Price Question - for friend
I have a friend who wants to get a her first ball python and she wants a morph. She really likes the yellow ghosts but I can't find a price for them anywhere. Anyone have a guesstimate of how much they cost?
Re: Morph Price Question - for friend
"Yellow Ghosts"? Yellow-Belly Ghost? Normal Ghost? Can you be a little more specific?
Re: Morph Price Question - for friend
I've never heard of a Yellow Ghost before.. you sure she didn't mean Orange Ghost?

It would explain why she can't find a price. :P

He mentions there have been different versions of the ghost morph. Yellow is one of them. I think she saw yellow ghost amongst a list of ball python morphs and looked it up on google. I think she just likes ghosts in general though.
Re: Morph Price Question - for friend
All of the Hypo's are the same. Tell her to find one for sale that she likes and not to worry about the line.
Re: Morph Price Question - for friend
Im a little confused now... Is a "Dessert Ghost" just an Axanthic Hypo? or is the dessert ghost in its one category??

Dessert ghost is a morph all on its own. I'm not sure why it has the "ghost" tagged on the end, but I don't think it's a ghost cross.
*edit* I read somewhere that it's called the dessert ghost because the person who bought the first import thought it was a ghost of some sort, but it turned out to be a codom.

Re: Morph Price Question - for friend
Hi,
Also some of the ghost lines are not compatible with each other.
Breeding a blue ghost to an orange ghost gets you double hets not ghosts.

Re: Morph Price Question - for friend
Granted... but MOST hypo lines are compatible. There really are very few that are not, and they're usually more money. I think that TSK may have a line that they call yellow that might not be compatible. But otherwise, Butterscotch, orange, green and even many that are called yellows are all just color variations of the same mutation.

Re: Morph Price Question - for friend
NERD has a asking price of 500 for females - that's a great price compared to Europe.

The desert ghost ball python, first produced by Mark and Kim Bell of Reptile Industries, is recessive, not co-dom. The desert (notice no use of the word "ghost" in its name) ball python is dominent.
The desert ghost line that Mark and Kim continue to work with is a very cool looking snake but I don't believe it is compatible with other ghost lines.
Re: Morph Price Question - for friend
I was told that orange/yellow/butterscotch ghosts are just different colors you can get from the same morph, like even breeding a orange ghost to a orange ghost you can still get orange/yellow/butterscotch ghosts. I can't find the thread I saw that on tho.

No - it is not compatible with other lines of hypo. You are correct. And what's cool about them is how much they change from baby to adult-hood. I LOVE this project and one day hope to work it. Right now, it's out of my price range.

Re: Morph Price Question - for friend
I don't differentiate between the different ghost lines when I'm collecting data, but it looks like (based off KS/Fauna asking prices) that male ghost hatchlings are selling for ~$250 this year. Females are in the $350-$450 range.
Hope that helps! :)
Re: Morph Price Question - for friend
Well she's not looking to breed ball pythons. This will be her first ball python, but she wants a visual morph. Thanks everyone!
