WHAT TO GET????!?!(Poll)

I am getting myself a christmas present :) and i cant decide what morph to get!!:confused: i would be breeding him to my normal female in a few years and i want the best results. im in the $100-$300 range.

Spider for sure. They are beautiful and I'm breeding mine to my normal female next year. I guess I'm just saying Spider because it's my fave morph:D

i voted mojave because i really want one. I have a pastel but hes being a bum atm :D i love the coloring of mojave's in general :D

I got my pastel male and spider female for $300 as a package deal...something to think about!:)

I vote for Mojave, because it's the most "bang for your buck" IMO. I got mine for $240, and he is absolutely stunning... and I hope to make BELs (with a butter or lesser) with him eventually, so the investment should pay off well.

If anyone is serious about breeding ball pythons as a hobby. They are out of their mind if they don't have at least a pair of pastels. Pastels mix with EVERYTHING... Spiders are nice, but one in your price range is likely to be ugly and barely look like a spider at all. Go with the pastel.

I love spiders and I think you could get a nice one for $300! Piebalds are going to cost you alot more than $300!

While I agree about having a pastel (mine is my favorite snake), you can get a quality spider for under $300... I only paid $250 + shipping for Vinnie, and think he's pretty darned good looking. :cool:

I think you should get what you like..its a personal choice :)

if money is not an issue i would go for a double gene morph like a pewter or a bumble bee.. just to get the most outta the normal gene.. :gj:

normal x bee = normal, spider, pastel, bee

normal x pewter = normal, cinny, pastel, pewter

dude you should so get a bumble bee!!! then if you breed it to yout normal you will have 25% chance for bumble bees, pastels, spiders, and normals.. thats what im doing..well im breedin the bumble be i get in a year to my pastel and to my normal!

Maybe hold out for a Lesser as they seem to be dropping in prices...

Pastel--it has the most potential for future projects, and people will breed fewer of them as their price continues to decline. Get the best one you can find, even if you have to pay the full 300 for it.

spiders are my fav morph, but if i could start all over again, my first morph would be pastel female. bc as it was said, about breeding plans, pastels mix well with EVERYTHING. start with a female pastel so it gets nice and ripe b4 u get ur next MALE morph =p.

Since your female won't be ready for a few years, I'd also recommend picking up a female morph now (you'll wish you had later) and get a male morph in a year from now - he'll still be able to breed your normal and eventually your female morph.

I was going to say the same thing. A pastel female at Christmas and then purchase a male morph next year.

You can get an 09 female pastel and a 10 male spider for under $300 combined.

Pastels are the new normal..amazing morphs

ok everyone i made the decsision... im going to get the rack(3 slot cb70) for christmas no doubt about it. i will put my normal girl in it. Then **IF** i can afford it, im going to get a subadult or adult pastel(not sure about m or f yet tho). By then ill have 2 spots in the rack filled. Then for my birthday in august im going to get a spider or some cool morph like that.

Any of your picks would be nice. If it were me, I would choose the Pinstripe.

What does your first gut response tell you? go with that....it is usually a good one...

You can look at the market and sometimes a great spider, or pastel or pin will stick out from the others, so maybe you could make the decision based on the best example of the morph you find?

When there is a price range, I say always go for the generally cheapest morphs (in this case, pastels and spiders, which are amazing as is). I would much rather have a $300 pastel (which would be one AMAZING snake) than a $300 mojave (which would be average). But that's just me. Look around (Kingsnake and Fauna classifieds are a great place to start) and see what you can find. Go with whatever appeals to you most.

You're in the EXACT same boat as I am. :D I've got a 6 month old normal female and I can't wait to get a cute little boy for her.

I, personally, want a Mojo, but I'm tied between that and a Spider. You can't go wrong with the Spider morph. But who doesn't want to try for SUPER Mojos! Mmmm... Blue-eyed Leucistics... It's up to you! :gj:

i go with a spider but not sure how much they cost down there.

Different countries/locales have different availability, supply and demand, and Canada isn't exempt from it. :salute:

I voted other. If you like piebalds, that RoyalConstrictorDesigns.com site you mentioned has het piebald males for just $75. Just remember that it is a simple recessive gene. That means, in order to get a visual piebald, you need to have at least another het to breed it to. Best bet is a het piebald and a visual piebald and all offspring will be het, and you will get a variable amount of visual piebalds. Otherwise, when you breed a het piebald to a normal, you don't know which offspring are het for piebald and you won't get any piebalds. More info here in case you don't already know:
