Veterinarian list
All these threads where people say that a snake needs a Vet got BG to thinking. When BG is thinking, that's some major muscle working there.:D
Is there a list of qualified Vets on this site? BG couldn't find it, but it would be a GREAT idea.
Big Gunns has seen too many people take their snake to an unqualified reptile Vet with tragic results. Big Gunns always loves it(hates it) when someone tells him about their snake that they took to the Vet and the Vet is doing some reeeeedd****culous treatment for it...and often with lethal results.
Big Gunns thinks this site should have a state by state list of qualified Vets.
Here are two that BG will give the thumbs up.
Dr. Adam Denish in the Philly area.
Dr. Scott Stahl in Virginia.
DO NOT TAKE YOUR REPTILE TO ANY OLD VET!!!!!!!!!

Re: Veterinarian list
Big Gunns, you have thought of a GREAT idea. I completely agree with you 100%. I have a good vet that I visit one time to get antibiotics for my Kingsnake when he had an RI, and now it is all gone:D

Though I'm not one to link her site, she has a fantastic source of reptile vets available in all states.
I do however, think that it should be posted somewhere on this website and updated with vets that the members here have had successes with.

Re: Veterinarian list
Big Gunns has another good Vet in NJ, but he needs to make sure she is still practicing there. It has been a while.

Re: Veterinarian list
There was such a list on this site, but I am unable to find it now.

Re: Veterinarian list
In Edmond, OK, there is Dr. Brad Minson at the Banfield clinic inside Petsmart. I know it's a Banfield, but this vet really knows his herps, and he's AMAZING at what he does. Another vet that I'd take my reptiles to if Dr. Minson isn't available is Dr. Rachel Reeves, at Neel Vet Clinic
Simplified
Oklahoma->Edmond: Dr. Brad Minson
Oklahoma -> Oklahoma City : Dr. Rachel Reeves

Dr. Gold in Maryland is one of the Vets that Pete Kalh uses...BG thinks.
There are many states missing from this list though. It needs an update.

Re: Veterinarian list
Is that thread stickied? Why was it so hard to find? I know I saw it awhile ago because I added my amazing exotics vet to the list but now its harder to find?

Re: Veterinarian list
The only one posted in CT I did a mapquest to see where they are, because I've never even heard of that town, came up as
Total Travel Estimates: 59 minutes / 46.23 miles
=[ very far.

It is indeed! Third from the bottom of the stickies - unfortunately, we can't arrange the order of the stickies:

Re: Veterinarian list
Item number 16 on this sticky also gives you links to locate exotics vets in your area:

He'd much rather flap his jaw and have someone else do all the hard work. This is one of the reasons Big Gunns loves his fans so much. They're always there to help their leader.:D:gj:

Re: Veterinarian list
Glad you were directed to it BG. I normally do the updates on that list and I've been away for quite awhile with some health issues. I gladly add your recommendations to the list as soon as I have a moment (doing a LOT of catching up here after being away so long).
My apologies to any other members that have sent me PM's with their recommended vets as well. Bear with me folks I'm going to have it all caught up very soon. :)

Re: Veterinarian list
For Houston, TX, Dr. White of Briarcrest Vet Clinic. He's a former zoo vet and VERY knowledgeable about reptiles with tons of experience, probably more years as a reptile vet than most people on here have been alive. Very reasonable too. Two big thumbs up!

Re: Veterinarian list
Thanks for everyone's interest in keeping this valuable resource for BPNet going! We'd still love to see more international submissions though so come on folks, let's make it a truly worldwide resource for this community. :)
If you have a submission to the list please PM it to me and I'll get right on it. Again sorry for the delay in updating the list over the past while. I'm back now though, healthy as a horse (well an old mare but we won't go there LOL) and ready to work so let's here about those great vets out there!
Remember too, if there's a thread like this list that you really like you can add it to your personal favorites list (found in your User CP) so it's easier for you to refer back to time and time again.
