    growth rate
Just wanted to see if my ball python is growing at a good rate? He's gained 100g over the 2 months i've had him. He has been eating one f/t adult mouse once a week. Is this normal, not enough, too much?

That seems about right. My pastel put on 140 in the second and third of the first three months of owning him. I didnt have a scale the first month, but I believe he gained about 50g's in the first month. He eats like a freak tho and I think his rate is a little fast. Hes 281 grams on November 1st and he was born July 4th.

My guy gained almost 150 grams in a month. I haven't weighed him yet in a while. I will tomorrow when I handle him. When I first got him in mid July he was about 16 inches. He's now almost 30 inches long and has fattened up quite a bit.

    Sounds okay to me. :gj:

My little female weighed up at about 87 grams just over two months ago, and she's now 184 grams. Almost an even hundred. :D

I, personally, after searching for many opinions, started her on a five-day diet, adult mice. She's chubbed up quite nicely, but if it doesn't slow down, and she starts looking disproportionate, I'll ease her into a six- or seven-day schedule. It's all about discovering their unique needs. Have fun with it! But never at the expense of their health.

    Cheers! :P

Mine was born on July 12 and now weighs 230 grams so yours is pretty big. I feed mine a rat pup every 5 days but I think I am going to move to a weaned rat next feeding!

If he's a full year old, he should be eating more than one mouse a week by now. My yearlings are over 500 grams, and are eating hopper rats.

    Re: growth rate
He should definitely be at least a little heavier and eating more than that at his age, but it's not your fault. Looks like he had feeding issues up until you got him.

Try offering him more than one mouse and see if he'll take it.

Should i feed him 2 mice the same day, or 2 through out the week? I usually feed him on Monday. So should i try giving him 2 on Monday, or 1 on Monday and 1 on Friday?

I feed my guy 3 adult mice a week. I feed F/T so I put the first 2 in his cage and if he eats those before I go to sleep I'll throw a 3rd in there over night. He's 7-8mos old and 350g at the moment.

If you are feeding him good they should gain 100g a month or more.
