My male pastel is freaking out!
I have recently started my pairings for the year and introduced my male pastel to one of my females. He had bred her once this season already, he locked and all went smoothly. I gave him a break and fed him. I then paired him with another female, gave him a break and fed him. It was his turn back with the first female mentioned and when I introduced him, he flipped out. It almost looked like they were combating. I quickly seperated them. Why would he do this? It was very interesting, he didn't even want me touching him(when I went to seperated them). Should I try pairing them after another break? How would you approach this? Thanks.

You better check the sexes of both those so called females. Looks like you have a cross dresser in there.:D

Males will combat and even lock up with each other.

I'd say your first female is actually a boy.

That's what I was going to say, the first "female" you paired him with might not have been female.

Another thing is sometimes when I place males with females they get a little rowdy, almost seems like they are combating but they must just really excited.

Definately make sure the sexes of the snakes your pairing.

The whole cross-dresser thing crossed my mind. I actually popped her the second I seperated them and I didn't get plugs. When I bought her we popped her also and I seen the glands(I was sold a male as a female once and have since checked twice on anything I have bought). So lets say she is a female, what would be your thoughts?

When I put my male in my females cage this last time she was tail wagging.

THATS about the craziest it ever got to be honest.

I HAVE heard of one snake biting the other. But usually you only hear about stuff like THIS situation where one snake is incorrectly sexed.

    Can you probe "her"?

So, do you suggest I pair them back up?

I have caught her tail waggin' a few times also. In fact when cleaning cages last night she was tail waggin' and musking in the tub they sit in while being cleaned.

Thing is BOTH males and females will tail wag.

    Id double check everything still.

Unless your otherwise POSITIVE on they're sex, I'd give em a little break and try again.

But I'd pay close attention while they're together.

They might just be really ready to get it on:D

I guess what I'm saying is, it's better to be safe than sorry.

Big Gunns suggests you make 100% sure of the sex of the animals before you do so.

This usually means she's not in the mood for booty(again kids...booty equals flavored water):D:8:. Check the sexes and if they are the sex you thought they were, wait a couple weeks and try to give them some flavored water again.:D:8:

Does anyone have any idea how hard it is for Big Gunns to follow the TOS?

Yes they both will. Go double, triple check....if you know what you're doing that is.:D Then come back to us "experts" for some advice.:gj:

It is true what someone else said also. Males can try and drink flavored water wherever they can sometimes. Some males will drink with them, and others will tail wag.:D

By the way. Big Gunns really has no room to talk. He has incorrectly sexed quite a few animals over the years. This includes one of the best snakes he ever produced.:tears::tears::tears::tears::tears:

Yeah...even somebody as perfect as Big Gunns can mistake a females vent for a (favorite food eaten at baseball games) on a baby ball python.:D

We have had it happen once when we put them together they started freaking out and whipping every where, after about an hour they where locked up. They are both sexed right too. Id say keep pairing them. Definently make sure you have them sexed right.

Big Gunns gets a gold star for trying so hard! :gj:

I did have a male and female display combat behavior one time last year, and yes, I knew it was a female, because she laid eggs the year before, and he had sired a clutch the year before. Only happened one time though.

But, as well as the others have already suggested, double and triple check those sexes.

You do realize you're trying to give that "gold star" to Big Gunns right? BG will accept nothing but Platinum. BP.net will need to expand their budget to accommodate the "Legend in his own mind".:P:D

Sometimes that will happen(female and male combat) when the female is not in the mood. Snakes can act like human females do 99% of the time.:D "99%" of the time with normal humans....BG is the exception of course.:D

You're the exception to 99% of the human females? Ummmm....do you have something to tell us BG? .......backs slowly out of the thread.......:P

Oh, and about the platinum stars? That a perk that comes with platinum subscriptions! :gj:

I also have a male that gets rowdy sometimes when put in with female. He eventually calms down and gets to business.

Well I triple checked the female last night and re-intoduced them. They were locked this morning. It must have just been one of those days.
