Possibly wobbly?

I have a normal juvenile who came from a reputable breeder, yet I do not know what the parent pairings were, or if she could be poss het for anything. I JUST read about the genetic trait called "wobbles" that are found in the spider morph.

I have occasionally observed her bobbing her head and neck up and down slightly when she extends her neck out of her hide. Could it be possible that one of her parents was a spider and gave her the wobbles, or is it just because she happens to be putting most of her weight where her heart or lungs are situated, and her heartbeat/breathing is what's causing her to bob?

I suppose it could be possible to pass the "wobble" to a normal. Your description sounds similar to my Spiders wobble...not very bad, but noticeable nonetheless.

maybe contact the breeder and ask what the parents were?

How long have you had her?

I've had her for just over two months now, and she's going on six months old.

To travisgoldkuhl: (just cuz I'd rather not quote videos) I actually watched those very same videos just to see what it was like. She's nowhere near that bad, though. Just a little head bob when she's still and staring at you.

EDIT: Also, definitely not an IBD-like symptom, thank god.

Sounds normal to me, especially because she's young.

If she's just bobbing her head up and down sometimes, I doubt it's the same wobble. But I'd keep an eye on it, nonetheless!

Morphs other than Spiders can wobble, though. I have a Woma who has a pretty severe wobble: head tilted sideways, sometimes upside-down, and the occasional corkscrewing.

Over heating can also cause symptoms that look identical to IBD. I think lots of hatchlings and juviniles have a little wobble, especially when extending the upper third or the neck out to test the air, just like the young in many other species, they gain control of their bodies over time. Just something to keep in mind.

Wobble isn't passed from spiders to normals--it's tied to the spider morph--normals from spider clutches don't wobble. Other individual snakes may wobble, but it's a rare defect when it happens, not something passed on genetically--at least not that anyone has produced evidence of.

you try extending your head out several inches and keeping it perfectly still. a snake isn't going to be able to go perfectly straight all the time, alot of weight up in the air. you should see my carpet when shes trying to reach something, once she gets about half of her body off a ledge she bobing up and down atleast 6 inches lol, it quite funny to see.
