Scariest Movie You've EVER Seen???
Title says it all..
I thought Paranormal Activity was one of the scariest movies I've seen in a long while. But for me, the scariest movie I've ever seen by far, was "The Descent". If you haven't seen it, I highly recommend watching it for Halloween tomorrow.
Also, found this list, I agree with it..http://movies.yahoo.com/photos/colle...lery/fp#photo0

"it" freaked me out really bad when I was a kid but I hate clowns

Re: Scariest Movie You've EVER Seen???
Hm..
Movies don't really scare me, but a good scary thriller will win.
The Audition..
If you've seen the uncut version you would understand. It's mentally disturbing and thrilling.

Re: Scariest Movie You've EVER Seen???
When I was a kid The Exorcist scared the crap outta me.

Re: Scariest Movie You've EVER Seen???
The omen and the exorcist when I first saw them which was when I was about 8 or 9 when I did :O (did not have parental control back then and if there was I would go around it ;))

Dude, "It" was awesome!(...in a nightmarish way..) It reminds me of Jaws..the first time you see it, its scary, but after that it just doesn't have the same effect and then you become bored with it. Regardless of how over it you are though, you're still afraid to get in the water or go near that clown performing on the sidewalk..

I know right? I first saw it by myself at around Midnight in my home. I've always wondered why it never made as big of news as other movies like Saw and Paranormal Activity. "The Descent" was by far the best horror movie I've seen, the ending in that movie was just cruel.

I'm reeeally weirded out by clowns, so IT was one of those movies I had to watch through my fingers when it first came out. The uncut version of the Exorcist was pretty disturbing, but one movie that is way underrated is "In the Mouth of Madness." That would be my vote for a good scare.

Re: Scariest Movie You've EVER Seen???
That movie is JACKED up!
That'd be my top scary movie.

Holy crap, yes that movie freaked me out when I was little. I was also stupid enough to read the book when I was in 5th or 6th grade, and had the worst insomnia for weeks.
As an adult, I really like scary movies, and I'm usually more elated than scared when I see a unique concept. The major exception I can think of is The Ring (I always get chills when the son says something like, "You helped her?! You weren't supposed to help her. She never sleeps." Brrrr! :O). Also, the movie got really bad reviews and most people don't like it, but parts of Silent Hill scared the crap out of me. The monster with the crazy angled helmet and the huge knife really got me, as well as the nurses near the end. Supernatural stuff scares me way more than situations that could happen in real life.
On a side-note, I'm doing a Resident Evil marathon for Halloween. Not scary at all, but they're just cool freakin movies! :D

Re: Scariest Movie You've EVER Seen???
The Exorcist is hands down the greatest horror movie of all time. Everything else is vying for the #2 spot.

Re: Scariest Movie You've EVER Seen???
The Ring actually scared me hahah, and Paranormal Activity was pretty good. Seeing the movie in theater I think makes a big difference.

Re: Scariest Movie You've EVER Seen???
Well,...
For me, the hell raiser films scared the tar out of me, and also a little known flick called communion, which starred Christopher Walken, who, when added to any serious film, adds some weirdness.

Invasion of the Body Snatchers. The old one was better, the new one was still pretty effective, though.
Now, the movie that is just one long adrenalin rush, without being nightmare inducing, is Aliens. But it MUST be viewed on a large screen to have this effect.

Re: Scariest Movie You've EVER Seen???
The Descent really scared the crap out of me. Anyone who saw it will understand this - I ALWAYS check around my car when I get in it.
Mirrors scared the crap out of me, cuz of the way it ended. After that movie, I can't stand mirrors in the dark.
Chucky scared me as a kid, and am still afraid of weird looking dolls to this day, and probly always will be. I remember when I was younger, I had a doll that I wrapped in a plastic bag and threw it in the corner of the closet, piling clothes on it. Scared. To. Death. And I used to constantly check behind the shower curtain, but have grown out of that... Mostly.
I'm a big baby when it comes to horror movies, so I'm sure I'll think of more. Those are the big ones that really had an impact on me though.

Re: Scariest Movie You've EVER Seen???
I'm a horror movie fanatic, lol! All my girlfriends go to watch movies that make them cry, and can't understand why I'd go watch a movie that makes me cringe and jump. :P
For me, the scariest movie ever was [rec]. Omigaw, that had us all climbing the couch and freaking out! We just saw Paranormal Activity and that was pretty scary too.
But as for the classics? I wasn't SCARED by Texas Chainsaw Massacre, but that dinner scene just made my stomach hurt with anxiety, and definitely the Omen and the Exorcist were freaky. The Shining stayed with me for a while, too.
George A Romero's zombie movies pretty much make my skin crawl, lol! The first time I saw 28 Days Later I about lost it, that was one cold, dark, freaky walk back to the car afterwords...
Has anyone seen the Ferryman? That movie didn't exactly SCARE me, but it really put me on edge and just gave me a general feeling of discord.. Good flick for what it was.
My favorite, though, is Hellraiser. Didn't scare me all that much, but I love it regardless!

Re: Scariest Movie You've EVER Seen???
I have yet to see a scary movie that I won't watch again, but Paranormal Activity made me the most uncomfortable, (Especially if my friend and I hadn't been making a backstory to explain all the little happenings. ie- a fire breathing, blind pterodactyl...). But some favorites are:
Texas Chainsaw Massacre (remakes)
Silence of the Lambs
The Saw Series
Misery
Paranormal Activity
The Shining
There are tons of awesome movies, but I can't remember all of them. Gotta love horror!

Re: Scariest Movie You've EVER Seen???
paranormal activity is creepy when i saw it no one spoke or moved for 5 mins after the movie was over it was bad a** and my wife and i didnt go home right after we went to wall mart and walked around for an hour what makes it worse is we have crazy stuff always happening in our home so it kind of touched a nerve with us

Re: Scariest Movie You've EVER Seen???
I've got two recommendations that a lot of people overlooked - first would be [REC], which is a great zombie flick! It's a Spanish film, I think, but there is an English dubbed DVD available, and the English version is also up on Graboid. The other is Open Water - very simple plot, very intense!
-
Re: Scariest Movie You've EVER Seen???
Check out the [REC] teaser trailer (english version) on youtube - seriously creepy movie!

I agree on "Mirrors". It was scary as hell. I also thought that "Decent" was a really good scary movie. I have to say however that "The Exorcist" still scares the ____ out of me.

Re: Scariest Movie You've EVER Seen???
Eah, the old version of The Body Snatchers. I was just a small child when the movie came out and back then my family loved the drive-in. They thought I was sleeping in the back seat. HA! More like shivering, cringing and doing my best to hide while still watching from the corner of my eye.
I do have to admit, though, It really was scary for me, too.

Re: Scariest Movie You've EVER Seen???
I love horror, have grown up on it, but can't think of any that really scared me. There's a few that made me feel really uncomfortable or creeped out including Cannibal Holocaust, Dead Girl, Jack Ketchum's The Girl Next Door, and Martyrs, but that's what I like. Rather feel dirty/uncomfortable after watching something, than angry for wasting my time on some lame, tame "remake"

Im the same way, the leprechaun movies are sorta funny now, but when I was a kid I couldnt think he was always there in the dark LOL. I never picked up any coins I found for a while after that :p
Whats creepy is that he is also professor Flitwick on the harry potter movies.
I also seriously do not see how Paranormal activitys was scary, there were only like five creepy parts that made you jump a little bit. The rest just shows the guy having a blast and the woman complaining. Me and a few other people watching were laughing at the end. Maybe its just me...

I guess that movie is just scary for people who have either dealt with ghosts or are just into ghosts.
I've dealt with ghosts before (both when I was a lil kid and just a few years ago) which is most likely why it creeped me out so much.
