Some day I'm gona be rich and own me a salt water tank. I'll have to be rich because I always end up with a tank full of belly-ups. You know those fish that swim upside down. :D Really nice pictures you've got there.

Lol thanks you know they may just have somthing wrong with their swim bladder.:D Its not to hard to keep one plus you can start out with a damsel of some kind. They are hard to kill and will help you learn what you keep doing wrong plus they are only 2.50 each at most pet places.

great looking salt tank's if you ever need help with them that is my expertise but in snakes I'm a noob great photos.

Very nice! How long have you had them set up? They look fairly new... What lighting did you go with? Love the black sand. I've had a 47 gallon cube sitting unfilled, with brand new metal halides and a couple of bags of black reef sand and some base rock ready to go. I need to set it up...

The 46 is 3 years old but just after a move lost a bunch of corals the 12 is about 6months old and the 75 is one a friend had been negleting for about 6 months http://i701.photobucket.com/albums/w...s/IMG_0047.jpg
Lighting I have a sunpods (150W) on the 10 and 12. On the 75 it has pc for now and on the 46 it has pc lighting also. For the most part I just build tanks.

what kind of sea star is that and which tank is it in?
the black sand is cool but over time it starts to look dirty. pieces of rock, snail shells and anything else that isn't black will stand out like a sore thumb. i had black and got tired of it so i mixed in some aragonite.
your friend really let that one go. holy slime algae!!
BTW my company rents land to ORA.......i sell algae to them.

Its a red (balla) or how ever you spell it and it is in the 75 right now. I have never had black sand get dirty on me any stuff that falls on it is gone in about 3 days.
What kinda algae?

I am looking forward to starting my own reef tank. I want in to the salt hobby more for the corals and inverts than the fish.
I'm just too busy this year, but if I have some downtime in the next 5 years I will be taking the plunge with one of my 75 gallon tanks. The current residents of that tank are elderly and should finish out their natural lifespans within the next year or two I'm guessing - then it's time to convert!
Expensive equipment (lighting, etc) but worth it IMHO~

several species of Gracilaria, Agardhiella, Ulva, and several other species that we just call green, red, or brown that we have yet to ID. we collect algae from the feild and grow it out. the ones i listed above we grow all the time.
im not talking about actual fish poop or anything on the black sand. im talking about chunks of rocks and shells. they stand out.

They use to have a bad rap but I have 10 differnt lights with them and they work just fine one is 4 years old.

Never had truble. I think its the rock I have its soft and just turns to dust.

you should just get those upside down catfish they already swim that way lol
