Johns Stranahan/ JasBalls

Was contacted by John about a animal I had up for trade and we worked out a deal. He is a great guy that I have known for a few years, but I've not had the pleasure of doing business with until now. I would highly recommend doing business with him if you get the chance.

I would do business with Jas anytime for sure.

I consider Jas a friend and would never hesitiate to do business with him. He has top notch ball pythons!

Jas is for a sure a top notch guy in this hobby.

Jas is as trustworthy a guy as you will find. His animals are awesome and I am honored to call him a friend!

John has been a good friend through the years, and I'm very happy with my Jasballs mojave!

I think most people here know that I consider John a good friend of mine but for those who don't know yet now you do :D When I first delt with him he ALWAYS answered my emails to him very fast. He gave me great deals on anything I got from him. I even had to refuse some of the things he was trying to do for me as I felt like I was taking advantage of him. I have been to his house and met his family and seen his snakes. His family was wondeful and his snakes were for sure top of the line quality. Never once have I ever had any problems with him and he continues to help me out more then I can explain even to this day. Thanks John for everything!!! I'm proud to say that I have a Jas Ball in my racks..I'd purchase from him any time of the day..

I was supposed to get a female pastel off of him and he held it for me so I could get money on my pay pal and everything and right when I got it on we were discussing shipping and then he just stopped responding to my emails. I havent heard from him since oct 14th. :confused: :colbert:

Thanks. Ive sent him some emails after he stopped responding and got nothing back. Maybe its just me he doesnt reply to... :8:
but when he did reply he was always fast to get back to me.

Ok i just got the email response back from John.Ok you are a minor.So with you being a minor and being unable to enter into a LEGAL buying contract this in itself ended the purchase.So now we all now know :gj:

Maybe you can get a Parent to handle the transaction for you.

yeah i dont see how that justifies him ignoring me. I told him my parents would be here to accept the package so obviously they arent worried about it, and it is my parents pay pal account. What other claification can i offer. (and just because i live with my parents and go to school doesnt mean im under 18)

But the fact that you profile here and on other forums states your only 17. Unfortunately many breeders are shying away from dealing with minors because if the level of maturity that some minors show.

Yes I am 17. I will be 18 in six months. There are people in my highschool class who have been 18, and people who go to college who are obvously older than that, and can either live at home, or stay at home sometimes. Its not like someone who dorms at their school is going to get their snake shipped there... It seems stupid to me that someone would make that assumption just because they are in school, and even if I was am I still not a potential customer??? Im sure my level of maturity isnt what made him think I am a minor not worth his time.

Quite a few people this side of the pond simply refuse to deal with minors because of the inability to form a binding legal contract. That fact removes a lot of protection and safegaurds for both sides sadly. :(

If anything at all went wrong then the fact there is no contract would become really important really fast.

I suspect if your parents were to actually get directly involved and purchase the animal in their name then there would be no problems - but that is just supposition on my part.

As far as I know there is a name on paypal and it is under my parents names. Therefor it would be them buying it. The whole "Legal Contract" is hypothetical. There is no paperwork done, so you would think that a breeder wouldnt need any reason to ask for stuff like that. Its easy, i give you money, you give me snake. The end.

My parents are involved I have just been the one talking to john. I had them check their bank account for the pay pal money and add it from their account. There is nothing else I can do to get them "directly involved"
Except, have them email him. Which could just be me anyway. Or call them. Whos to say i cant just be like "yeah this is jasons dad."

meh, i have 4 snakes from jas.. i had great experience each time i done business with him.

i have a great Female Pastel from him btw.. :gj:

and if he don't feel comfortable selling his animals to you for any reason, he obviously reserves the right to decline a sale to you, and i don't blame him for being cautious in his sales, means he is doing his part in making sure they go to the right homes and help prevent stupid stuff happening like BP's being banned because irresponsible handlers/owners..

Have recently had the pleasure of "chatting" with John Stranahan through email in part due to this thread. Just wanted to say that he does seem to be a great guy and a wonderful person to talk to when you are a newbie like me. He has offered to answer any of my questions even if I don't buy from him and even offered me an unbelievable deal on a Pastel (which I refused because I'm not ready to bring a snake home yet) just to get me started. Kudos to John for being so helpful!

I had the dis[pleasure of dealing with him today. I tried to be as nice and professional as I could but he still acted immature. Below is the email transcript.

I run Daily Reptile News which is a news show on you tube 3 days per week as well as the website which is a site dedicated to reptile news from around the world. I have been doing the new one way or another since November 2006 and got the awesome idea to make it more personable by doing the videos, with those I also started keeping up a vlog as well. My videos that go on you tube automatically post to my face book wall. My little project is getting more popular by the day but I would not call myself anybody or any better than you or anyone ells. I do use Face Book quite a lot as I am connected to it all day and night ether in the office or on my mobile device and since I lead such a boring life I use it to communicate my thoughts, feelings, ambitions or just to joke around with my friends. Wow, I seam to have offended you in some way. I am sorry for that. My intention is to help the people in the reptile industry and hobby by reporting the news in an unbiased way. I have not heard Larry and BT in some time, A year or so I believe, are they still doing it. Anyway mine is on youtube, its an extension to the work I have done on the site for those that dont like to read the news they can just click a link and listen to it.

As you can see as far as I am concerned he is a real class act moron. To the admin, I am very sorry I thought about editing his language out but figure anyone doing business with him would like to know the vulgarities he uses with people. You can take it for what its worth but as you see above I tried everything I could to be polite and never once made an insult in any way shape or form.

I consider John to be a good friend , i have had the pleasure in receiving a few of his animals in the past and they are exactly what they were supposed to be. we talk back and forth on chat , hes a great guy . and if you don't have a sick/warped sense of humor somethings might offend you . but luckily my sense of humor is as sick/warped as his LOL .

I recently won an auction jas had. We were discussing shipping cost, when he found out that I was a veteran. Jas told me Merry Christmas. I was like "???". He responded "I get to celebrate Christmas because of you. I'm not going to charge you for the ball pythons, I'll ship them next week". I received the snakes, and they are beautiful. Recently I saw on a facebook page that he donated a very nice 1.0 Mohave Honeybee to be raffled off, 100% of proceeds were going to help out a fellow herper. In my opinion he epitomizes the cream of the crop in this business. I have absolutely nothing bad to say about this guy. He is as good as they come. Seriously.
