help with a choice.....

Ok I posted this under general but got no responses.....so I am hoping some of you will give me your thoughts on which one......

So the hubby and I gave each other our Christmas wish list. His is a pistol...mine is a female lesser. I know....shocking....I want another snake. He told me to pick one out...

I called and talked to my breeder and he stated...no lessers but he does have some butters.

So I am asking for your opinions....

I am eventually going to breed her with Henry the Bee. (way off in the future) but that is my goal. I am not looking to make a bunch of money or go into breeding a lot....I just want the experience not only for myself but for my son. So ....give me your thoughts!

I'd go with a lesser. Nothing wrong with a butter though.

Lesser to Bee will give you spiders, pastels, lessers lesser bees and the awesome Queen bee. Butters will pretty much give you the same(butter bees etc) because people believe they're a variation of the same mutation.
BUT i believe there are far less of the butter mutations out there and its popularity is growing. Your choice. There about the same price.

Well I can't tell them apart for the life of me ( :oops: ) and they both make the same combo's from all I have seen. I think butters are generally slightly more expensive but that's the only difference I can see.

Have a look at the butters and see if you like any of them as an individual animal. Buying the gene is one thing but if you don't like the looks of the animal you will never be truly happy you bought it.

butter and lesser...IMO.... look the same. not much difference in them to me and there are def different sides of the spectrum to each, just get a good looking one. since u live in arizona id say come up here but i shouldnt have any till feb or march.

Nothing like a nice lightly colored butter. :gj:

Well I am thinking the lesser as well. I like both and they are sooooo similiar. Awesome lessers seem to be a bit lighter though...IMO. My whole idea was to eventually try for the Queen. And later on get another lesser and try for the BEL.

But that is me living in my dream world with my husband saying...Oh babe...just keep them all.....lol :gj:

Nice butters can be just as light, if not lighter, than lessers. Heres a pic of mine from boa barn.

Wow that has to be one of the lightest butters I have seen....very pretty. Thank you for posting the pic.

It is hard to tell the difference, and they produce the same combos (more or less) - however, I personally would choose a butter. Maybe it's just the ones I've seen, but they seem lighter and "softer" than a lesser... both are absolutely gorgeous if you pick the right snake, and I too want a female lesser/butter. Now I need to find a husband to buy it for me, LOL. :P

I have a teeny, tiny preference of Butter over Lesser, but that's only because Butters are less common. Other than that, it's about 50/50 for me.

But hey, if you want a Lesser later, I will hopefully be producing some this year! (I hope!)
